Why are threads just pulled without any reference????

I posted on the thread about the quote about the multiple abortion woman this morning. come back a couple of hours later and it's pulled.

Why not just stop new posts if it gets too much much like the 1000posts rule? That would stop the bickering but enable those who have already posted to see how the debate went. Or pull it but allow it to still show on threads I'm on. Not to continue posting but to read back through.

As it is, there's no way of knowing how it all went.

Are any of these possible?

Yes I find this irritating.
I don't think it's done lightly but I feel an explanation summarising why a thread has been pulled would be polite.

I agree, SM.
I'm not suggesting threads should never be pulled but posters who dip in and out are often left thinking what went wrong. In this case it was fine when I last posted. Mostly people were disagreeing with the OP but not having a go at her so I just don't know what happened.

Myredcardigan, sorry to annoy you.

Spidermama is right - we never pull threads lightly but there were pressing reasons for the OP wanting this thread gone.

We asked her to post on the thread, saying she'd asked us to delete it - which she did.
And we then left it up for another hour or so, so those on it could read her post.

Sorry that you must have missed that. But we do hope you understand.

Hi Helen! I'm not annoyed, just frustrated!
I suppose in this case if the OP no longer wanted her thread to be seen that's one thing. Usually though, a thread is pulled because it's become a bun fight. I just think removing it completely from existence can be frustrating for those who have posted in good faith.

We completely agree, myredcardigan - which is why we really do try to avoid deleting threads.

If one goes without warning, you can pretty much surmise it was hideously libellous or horribly obscene or started maliciously by a troll - or needed to be pulled for a really serious reason by the OP.

We're not all sitting here with our fingers twitching over the MNHQ delete button, I promise you!
