We don't need all of these bloody sections. It worked fine as it was.
My concern is that people will miss valuable information.

I think they were asked for though.

i agree that there are way too many topics. not particularly noticed anything about special needs though.

but in general yes, far too many.

Why is SN the worst offender? I quite like being able to block it out completely.

2shoes Wed 08-Jul-09 19:01:32

ok so you don't want me to have somewhere to post about my teen dd(sn)

moondog Wed 08-Jul-09 19:01:42

I just find that I can be less and less bothered to trawl through countless sections.

nickytwotimes Wed 08-Jul-09 19:02:26

Why is SN so bad?
There are a lot of topics, but it doesn't bother me. I only look at Active Convos and Threads I am On.

Northernlurker Wed 08-Jul-09 19:04:37

I think it's a bit unfair to pick on SN tbh. Look at 'Travel' - did we ever really need a section for sking and cruises as well as shorthaul and longhaul hmm

KerryMumbles Wed 08-Jul-09 19:05:57

Yeah. Let's get rid of special needs and keep CHICKEN KEEPERS.

hmm

Northernlurker thank you

lol Km

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot Wed 08-Jul-09 19:07:32

SN came about after lots of discussion with all the regul;ars, and was modified again afterwards

I do tend not to go outside the children bit though unless it flags up on my active convo's

It was too afst moving with so many people for everyone to be able to keep up, and people with teens etc ewre 'homeless'

nickytwotimes Wed 08-Jul-09 19:07:54

...or the horses.

KerryMumbles Wed 08-Jul-09 19:09:55

seriously WTF is it with people thinking they can say SN is shite?

mind boggles

2shoes Wed 08-Jul-09 19:11:54

tbh it seems that people can say what they like about sn on mn. but I am suprised at the op as sh eknows that parents of sn need support.

LyraSilvertongue Wed 08-Jul-09 19:12:27

What's the point of MumsNOT? It's only got three threads in it.

Lulumama Wed 08-Jul-09 19:12:38

i think the whole point of the sub sections was that people were not getting the info, especially more specialised or niche info

but you can hide threads and topics i thought?

Lulumama Wed 08-Jul-09 19:13:08

Mumsnot is bizarre

don't thikn MN should try to be everything to everybody

lou33 Wed 08-Jul-09 19:13:32

i'm with km on this

nickytwotimes Wed 08-Jul-09 19:13:54

I still want to know what the problem is with SN? Surely that is one of the more important/worthwhile topic areas?

2shoes Wed 08-Jul-09 19:14:05

mum snot what is that about?

HecatesTwopenceworth Wed 08-Jul-09 19:14:13

I didn't read it as saying the sn section was bad, but the way it has been split into so many sub-sections and that it would be easier to have just the one. I didn't read anything about getting rid of the sn section.

MN has too many sections, it's true! It is damn near impossible to find the 'right' place to post anything!

2shoes Wed 08-Jul-09 19:15:14

nickytwotimes I doubt very much that the op has a problem with the sn topic, she is a helpful poster and much loved on there, just a bad example to use imo

silverfrog Wed 08-Jul-09 19:16:14

the SN section was changed after requests from parents of sn children (and teens especially).

they were the ones who said it wasn't working before (all parents, not just parents of teens), and so it has been changed ot make it easier for them.

I know you post a lot with very valuable advice, moondog, but i think the wishes of the parents who are looking for advice are more important. this is sounding really abrupt, and I do not mean to be (but am singing nursery rhymes with dd1 at the same time as typing, so am prob typing gibberish tbh)

Health has also recently been split into many subsections hasn't it? It used to be under body and soul.
