The "Thank You" Mumsnet thread

Right can we try to make this the longest thread in the whole of MN? Because as a parent I have found it a source of help, strength and definitely laughter, in a "spit coffee over the monitor" sort of way!

I've been on web forums for donkeys year - I sent my first email in 1988 - and I have to say this is one of the nicest and also most fun forums I've ever seen. Not to mention morally supportive.

The girls who run this site really deserve a vote of thanks.

So here is my start: Thanks!

(Oh and I'd also like to thank Cbeebies for the free babysitting!)

Yes I'll second that.

I give it exactly, oh, two replies before your calling the business women who run the site, ahem, 'girls' gets you a punch round the head...

There you go.

But nice in spirit...

i cannot agree more. especially given the amazing supoprt i have received recently.
this site has always been dear to me and i have always championed the intellect and laughter here, i'v always known how fabulous you all are and how far you go to support one another. but to be on the recieving end of that support is something altogether different.

it really is tear inducingly comforting to know taht there are people out there, that have never met you, who know only what you tell them on a screen, and yet they are willing to put themselves out ( sometimes in quite a massive way) just to be of help to you.

words cannot describe the love i have for this site and the members of it.

your all fabulous and i hope that this thread runs and runs.

What on earth is wrong in calling them girls? If I call them "ladies" will I get caned for that too? Or shall I use "persons"?

This calls for a defending return blow....

Mamazon simply knowing that there people out there in a similar boat to mine has helped a lot. I'm probably a spoilt thing in many ways but there are needier people than me e.g., I was touched by the 18 year old girl who was on here needing support earlier. Better minds than mine can help, with loads more ideas than I can ever give.

Thankyou all and an extra thankyou to the Mumsnetters who completed my guardian Survey I did on here a few months ago. I got a distinction for that essay

Think 'women' would probably do the trick.

Then "Women" it is. I stand corrected!

Thank You mumsnet for making me the very antithesis of a helicopter parent

My younger two DC are far more outgoing and self sufficient than DS1 was thanks to you; I mean it took DS1 until he was 6 to master the TV remote, but DD can change channels already at age 2

Thankyou Mumsnet for restoring my faith in the basic goodness of humanity.

There have been some threads which have been utterly life changing for people. I have watched, in awe, as Mners are given the support they need to leave abusive relationships; financial help and gifts when they are at their lowest ebb, and gin even just the funny threads which have lifted others (and often me) from a gloomy mood.

(I'm in a right soppy mood this afternoon)

I've just been down the local playground, you know they say "get out a bit". Well I never saw such a miserable bunch of Mums wandering about. There was a bloke sitting by the sandpit wearing this goatee beard and he looked at the sand all the time.

I'm not expecting some American style "Hi!" in my face but the odd smile "Yes you exist" might not go amiss.

Is it like that for some Mums in UK too? Myold playground in north Wales has needles lying around it....

You women keep me sane!

MN has been a lifesaver for me the past 2 and half years, since I relocated and discovered that I had NO friends within 150 miles.

Still have very few friends as work loads of hours and have so mnay family committments, so sometimes MN is the only female interaction that I have. And I feel like the world's biggest saddo admititng that but there you are.

The wonderful thing about MN is the daftness of some of the threads. The amount of fun I have had on threads like crap tips, the stupidity thread and daft conversations about tea towels - it has stopped me spiralling down in a vortex of self pity and loneliness, I can tell you.

I am a relatively new MN poster but I would like to say that it is by far the most supportive, honest, fun and informative parenting forum I have ever been on.
(Can I have a bourbon? )
