Mumsnet socialist realism

Did mumsnet always have that logo on the top left? Is it new or has it just got bigger?

It looks exactly like those Soviet era posters of the happy workers striding towards the socialist future. All we need is a hammer and sickle flag in the hand of the young pioneer who is pointing so enthusiastically.

And what's with the silhouettes of the women? How many members do you think you have with thighs and stomachs in the Barbie-doll dimensions drawn? And I see the perfectly groomed lady on the right has a bottle. In the new-style Soviet mumsnet era is she too busy building communism to breastfeed?

lol lingle this is the third post mentioning the bottle.
i hadn't noticed it before either. it must've got bigger no?

WankmasterBastardDeLaShithead Fri 30-Jan-09 11:34:51

It's always been there, it's just got bigger.

I love the logo grin

The mother on the left looks like she's nearly dropped the baby.

Almeida Fri 30-Jan-09 11:35:32

I always think they look like they're leaping out of a cauldron!

broguemum Fri 30-Jan-09 11:35:54

It reminds me of the old Charlie's Angels thing. It's cool!

Molesworth Fri 30-Jan-09 11:38:45

I assumed it was a play on the old Charlie's Angels logo ... isn't it?

fryalot Fri 30-Jan-09 11:41:01

it is a play on charlies angels.

it has always been there

it is good

it is clever and funky

babies do sometimes drink from bottles and this is okay.

I love it.

JustineMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 30-Jan-09 11:41:37

Erm yes it's a spoof of Charlie's Angels - Lingle you must be very young or extremely highbrow (or both grin) to think social realism and not Sabrina and co.

broguemum Fri 30-Jan-09 11:47:11

Are you saying I'm not highbrow 'cos I knew it was Charlie's Angels???

<<deeply offended emoticon with hints of flouce and undertones of sleep deprivation>>

Molesworth Fri 30-Jan-09 11:52:17

Actually I think a Soviet realist style logo is a fab idea grin

Hassled Fri 30-Jan-09 11:57:42

Sabrina was always the best of the Angels. The only one who had a clue what was going on. And you could tell that Charlie had a soft spot for her.

I do see what Lingle means - that baby/toddler at the top has a look of the revolutionary hero himself

JustineMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 30-Jan-09 12:05:16

Yes and Sabrina was the only one who never took her clothes off - did you notice that? (Plus she was the prettiest.)

JustineMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 30-Jan-09 12:06:03

I'm highbrow me!

MrsBadger Fri 30-Jan-09 12:08:38

must... work.... must.. work..

must not design socialist realist logo for MN...

francagoestohollywood Fri 30-Jan-09 12:09:44

Perhaps they are Soviet Charlie's Angels? Working for the KGB?

Hassled Fri 30-Jan-09 12:12:12

MrsBadger - do it, do it. I was just wondering if anyone here had the skills . You owe it to your comrades, and to the revolutionary cause.

(Sabrina was definately the prettiest. I wanted to be Sabrina. Actually, I still do.)

Gorionine Fri 30-Jan-09 12:13:15

LOL @ this thread!

francagoestohollywood Fri 30-Jan-09 12:16:38

Yes, Sabrina. Was I the only one who wanted the boobs of the other one with ddark hair, what was her name?

Tortington Fri 30-Jan-09 12:19:46

pmsl socialist...charlies angels.

i was always sabrina in school playground

shows age and piss poor 70's schooling!

Tortington Fri 30-Jan-09 12:21:12

the third one was always a big fugly - and the least fave friend always got the fugly angel in the playground

francagoestohollywood Fri 30-Jan-09 12:28:04

MarmadukeScarlet Fri 30-Jan-09 12:30:39

Hassled I read that as

I wanted Sabrina. Actually, I still do.

And thought that was an interesting confession for a discussion about logo/branding. grin

TheThoughtPolice Fri 30-Jan-09 12:32:25

I agree with whoever said looks like some sort of hideous burst spider creature

Hassled Fri 30-Jan-09 13:00:25

Dammit. My secret's out. I would have got away with it too if it weren't for you meddling MNers wink
