Question for Mumsnet Towers and Mnsnetters about a possible sport and exercise topic?

It might just be me (in which case please ignore this request Mumsnet Towers) but I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in a sports and exercise topic under the "Health" heading or elsewhere on the site? And if so, if it would please be possible?

Currently, sport threads (a recent example would be the Olympics) either get posted under "other subjects" or "telly addicts" or exercise threads are posted under "weight loss club" or "general health".

There are lots of questions about power walking/running/pilates/yoga/horse-riding out there - to take just a few examples. Just thought it might be good if there was a specific place to accommodate them.

What does everyone else think?

oh, um, probably just me then ...

Thanks Geraldine, much appreciated ...

Trouble is, I think you may be the only one sad !!!

Surely in this day and age, sport is not only the preserve of blokes??

Bumping forlornly grin

Sorry, I'm strictly a WII fit person - I don't get to go outside the house and run round all day so I wouldn't post on it.

Although we could get all competitive on SuperHula - there's quite a few of us Mumsnetters doing it!

Countingthegreyhairs Thu 16-Oct-08 18:20:32

oh dear, well I guess Mumsnet Towers has it's answer ...

resounding silence, tumbleweed emoticon

or could it be that all the interested parties are out playing women's rugby or pounding the streets or ... or ...are at their Ashtanga yoga class ......????

getting desperate now grin ......

I'd like one! If only to find that elusive no pain - all gain solution! wink

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo Thu 16-Oct-08 20:23:22

No - I think it sounds good.

cheeseytoastie Thu 16-Oct-08 21:06:37

We had a sport topic before didn't we? That's where the Runner's thread used to be but it was ditched and we transferred back to Health.

EffiePerine Fri 17-Oct-08 10:23:31

sport and exercise a good idea

esp for those who like to exercise cos they enjoy it, rather than to lose X pounds

Countingthegreyhairs Fri 17-Oct-08 10:29:00

Oh didn't realise that Saggar'sb ... why was it ditched?

Thanks for yet more positive votes everyone!

Keep 'em coming ....

Countingthegreyhairs Fri 17-Oct-08 15:40:47

Halllloooooo!!! Halllooooo!!!

Calling all horse-riders, tennis players, sailors, swimmers, curlers, surfers, caber tossers....

(Bumping shamelessly grin)

Saggarmakersbottomknocker Fri 17-Oct-08 16:57:21

I'm not sure.....I think it was because they wanted to expand some other topics and it wasn't used much TBH. Maybe it would be now smile

Countingthegreyhairs Fri 17-Oct-08 16:58:12

oh and not forgetting SuperHula's (that's especially for Twentynine)

OrmIrian Fri 17-Oct-08 17:00:41

Agree! I'd use that.

Countingthegreyhairs Fri 17-Oct-08 19:44:13

Thanks Orm!

Wallace Fri 17-Oct-08 19:59:56

Countingthegreyhairs Sat 18-Oct-08 09:37:03

SheikYerbouti Sat 18-Oct-08 09:39:13

Did we not used to have a sport topic 100 years ago?

I'll agree - evcen though I am a lazy fat cow

MurderousMarla Sat 18-Oct-08 09:44:01

That would be great - health is quite busy and fast moving so harder to find stuff on exercising. I am getting back into swimming so would love to be able to talk to others on here.
