MarkE (new member) just posted with a link about another parent website with links etc. I am sure you have had a few ! clicked by now. Anyway....made me think as I you do have a topic for folk that want to advertise on MN, but how do they know until we all bambozzel them.

What about new members having to post on a minimum number of threads first before you can add hypertext links in your post, and an information box, pop up to say "if you wish to advertise a product on MN, please do so here (and cough up and pay etc), we monitor all links (big brother is watching). Some other web forums do this sort of thing. One to mention is holiday truths.

I agree. I use another forum where there are rules about links in text and viewing profiles etc. Posting for privelidges (sp?) is a good idea.

The only possible conflict I can see with this is that there may be times when a newbie (or a long time lurker) has a critical link to show...thinking of instances where it could be quite "important" e.g. in health.

yes, but advertising new parenting websites, as your first and only post is crapola netiquette...

it is usually really apparent when someone is blatantly selling something, a poster appears with a brand new name, saying something like, ; i recommend this product/service, i used it , it is ace, you will love it too, here is the website...give it a try!'
