Can't access site or app using WiFi

MrsMidgeMaisel · 19/06/2021 10:42

Hi

All of a sudden this morning I've been unable to access both the app and the site.

I thought the site was down but after several hours and nothing showing on social media I asked a friend to check and they confirmed they can access the site.

I've had to switch my WiFi off and use data in order to post this. I've tried repeatedly switching it off and on and every time I try to access the site using WiFi I can't get on.

For info my provider is Hyperoptic, please can you look into this?

Surely it's an issue with your WiFi rather than something to do with Mumsnet

It's only mumsnet it's affecting, everything else, all other sites are working fine, so I wasn't sure if the site has blocked access from the ISP (it's happened before with other sites). They don't as default provide a static IP which caused issues but I've paid extra so that should have sorted it!

Same issue here. Can't access site from my phone using wifi (the mobile site, don't use the app).
Couldn't get on with laptop earlier either but that seems to be working again now.
Phone still not able to access.

Are you the same ISP? I've tried to ring Hyperoptic but their lines are busy and can't get through to them!

Hi @MrsMidgeMaisel,

Sorry to hear you're having problems accessing the site, that must be pretty frustrating.

We're just looking into this, but as we haven't had hordes of other reports we're thinking the problem must be at your end. Hopefully you'll be able to get through to Hyperoptic soon and update us.

@EndoplasmicReticulum - are you using the same internet provider by any chance?

I'm with Virgin and getting the same issue: it's intermittent but I can access other sites fine. I can't decide if it's WiFi or an intermittent problem but it's very odd. (Android, Chrome).

The rest of the internet appears to be working but to be fair I haven't checked all of it.

Same! I thought the site was down as all other sites are fine, switched off wifi and it came straight on

Same here - also on Virgin. It works fine from my laptop (MacBook Safari) but just won't load on the phone (Android, Chrome).

Yes I've been having problems on my kindle this morning. Just keeps timing out. All other websites fine - just mumsnet. And only on my kindle - no problems on my phone.

Both using wifi. The only difference is I'm not automatically logged in on my phone.

Same here, can only access on 4g. On wifi I get an Oops error message.

Same here. I can log on (using Safari on Virgin broadband) even get on a thread but then if I want to do something else like click on ‘Threads I’m on’ or ‘Search’ or ‘Talk’ - it freezes. I have to open up another window, search for Mumsnet again and then IF I can get onto a thread, the same scenario repeats. I’ve tried using Chrome, same happens.

To post this message, I’ve searched for MN again, come straight to ‘Site stuff’ and have posted this.

I’m using an IPhone.

I’ll post this and see if I can do anything after ie. Click on ‘Talk’ and get on another thread.

Will report back.

There’s definitely a problem. I closed the MN page because i got the wheel of doom when I tried to post the above. I then logged back in on WiFi still and was able to get back on to ‘Site Stuff’ and the above message wasn’t here. I attempted to navigate away to ‘Talk’ and it froze again.

I turned off my WiFi, logged in on 4G, got here, no problem and my message above was there - am now posting this and seeing if I have same problem or whether being on 4G solves it.

It’s been like this all morning. Sometimes I haven’t been able to get on at all using WiFi (and have been absolutely fine with other sites so it’s MN specific)

Will try and post this.

Well that worked (using my 4G) But I’m not going to use all my Data on MN so bye for now and hopefully you’ll fix the WiFi glitch 😊

I seem to be on at the moment on WiFi.

Mine too. Also with Virgin.

MrsMidgeMaisel · 19/06/2021 15:40

Haven't been on at all through WiFi. Hopefully it's sorted soon as I also can't use all my data for MN.
