Edit button again

Please, please, please can we have an edit button. Even if it's times for a minute or thirty seconds. It's really irritating when you spot a mistake and can't change it.

I know I should proof read what I've typed before I send it but I never do!

That happens to me all the time. I wish I could edit or delete my posts. I try to correct my typos and make it even more confusing or just try my best ignore it Blush

Hi @TheChippendenSpook - we know it can be a bit frustrating when you realise you've posted a typo or just want to make a small change to a post, but the general consensus has always been that an edit button could cause other problems (with people potentially rewriting history!). Smile

So we'd just advise you to make use of the preview function, or report your post to us so we can withdraw it or make a small edit if necessary.

I think you cannot rewrite history in 30 secs. That’s all many of us would ask for.

Maybe 'rewriting history' was exaggerating slightly. Smile But historically we haven't wanted to add an edit button because it could essentially change the context/content of a post, and might cause more problems than it solves.

This is something that's been discussed in the past but we're always happy to revisit ideas so we'll have another think about this one. In the meantime, hit that Preview Message button!

Thank you for replying to me Smile
I can understand that nothing on here would make sense if we were all able to edit our posts with gay abandon Grin

It's just that if there is any way that we can have one that lets us have a minute or so that would be great! Even though I will try and remember to proof read my posts.

It's good to know that you will edit them if need be for me as it's something that I do chide myself for Grin

Perhaps rather than an edit button, there could be an addendum button, so you can click on it and get access to type something additional onto the original post. Not delete anything already typed, but just like add an asterisk of addition info to correct anything in the post.

That's a perfect idea!
