Can we have a separate "Games" board in the Fun and Games section?

Hi MNHQ, there's already "Gaming" but it's for video/computer games. I mean a separate board for games threads, like the ones that are currently running on chat. (Three word stories, Change a letter, etc).

Sometimes, all I want is to relax, unwind and just participate in lighthearted games with others online and it can be difficult to wade through different threads in Chat to find one. So is it possible to have a board so we can start these 'Games' threads there and also find them easily?

Failing that, does anyone know a forum like this?

Thanks.

Ooh, that's a good idea. I often 'lose' a game thread I'm on if I don;t post for a couple of days and then it drops out of the most recent threads in chat.

Hi OP

As ever, it would depend on how many people would use the board - we'll monitor responses and consider doing this if we're sure enough people want and would use it! Flowers

Thanks @LilyMumsnet. I knew it would need this. I'd see if I can drum up support by posting about this in Chat... or Aibu Grin

@Arbadacarba I often save the posts but usually want to check if there's more running, if the others are a bit slow, but can't be arsed to trawl through threads upon threads. Not sure how many would actually use it but for those of us who do, I think it would be very useful.

It's a good idea, so long as people knew it was there. I suppose if someone starts a game in Chat, a player who knew about the Games board could suggest it be moved there, and then more would get to know about it?

I think that would be great.

I love being able to unwind by playing a game with others on Mumsnet. It's frustrating that games are under chat because it makes them hard to find.

Also, leaving them without a proper place to be stored, seems to devalue Mumsnet games. They are a thing. They're great fun.

Now, all they need is a proper home. So we can play more. Grin

I really love this idea. These games are a welcome release from negative things we may be dealing with and also a great way to keep the synapses firing. Having these games on their own board would be welcome as they'd be so easy to find in their own location. It's a "Yes please" from me. 🌹

This would be fab. Often these threads are nearly finished before I find them.

Brilliant idea!

Would be great to have a place where we can easily find these threads, rather than trawling through chat. Always takes me ages to find them!

Also I would be able to see all the other game threads that are going. As I only really see them pop up on active every now and then, so could be missing out on some fun ones.

YES YES!!

Glad to see you lovely posters here. I'd given up - I thought it was just me and @Arbadacarba. I made a thread in chat to whip up some votes Grin and was roundly ignored my thread fell through the cracks so no response. Would be nice if you all could also comment and bump the thread so that more people, who may not look at Site Stuff, can see it. Hopefully, we can get this section and have all our old games moved to it. Trying not to get my hopes up. Grin

Here's the link for anyone who wants to bump the thread.

I think this will be a good idea if MNHQ gives us this section.

Couldn't agree more! They're so a thing! And I think they'll be even more a thing when they have a home - more people will start coming over to play games @LilyMumsnet Grin

Posted this on the other thread - in case it's of interest, Mumsnet's sister-site, Gransnet has its own games topic which seems to be very active indeed.

See MNHQ - there's already precedence! 🌹

I put a link to this thread on the game thread I'm on at the moment - that's probably the most effective way to find supporters for this idea.

Thanks Errol, that's good idea.

Newestname, there's precedence indeed. Surprised MNHQ didn't mention it (Isn't it the same company?)
Have been lurking there too.

Isn't it the same company?

Yes, Gransnet is a branch-off from Mumsnet aimed at the over-50s/grandparents (which is why I hoped MNHQ wouldn't mind my mentioning it on their forum Smile ).

It obviously works as a topic on Gransnet so there's a good chance it would be a success on Mumsnet too. There's an AIBU running on GN at the moment discussing the respective age-ranges on GN and MN and quite a few posters are saying they're on both.

Still asking for this. Game threads are getting lost in chat!Smile @MNHQ I think it's obvious posters will use the board.

Do we have this yet? Would love to see all the game threads in one place!

Dear @MNHQ.

Do, please, listen. The games are quick, stimulating and fun for so many already. How much more so if they could easily be found on their own board instead of the more general "Chat"? 🌹

Hi folks

We open topics based on interest level - which can differ lots with gransnet!

Keep posting and inviting people to post. If there's enough interest, it's definitely something we can consider. We just don't think it's quite there yet...
