I lost my temper with someone once and was very, very rude, and reported myself.

FWIW I frequently use the word 'cow' as in 'lucky cow' [jealous], 'stupid cow' angry but don't view it as offensive, but funnily enough someone I spoke to today got offende when I called her a lucky cow, so maybe it's a regional thing????? (clutching at straws emoticon)

well if someone posts something you don't like then you can report it..including if it is about you

mnhq dont' read mn particualrly so it has to be drawn to their attention

and context is pretty meaningful too as to whether it is an attack or not

WaynettaSlob Wed 29-Aug-07 13:43:46

But MB, you were so so so right on that thread, and we were all right behind you!

it's all a bit academic for me personally because afaik i have never had a post deleted except when the whole thread has gone

all the posts i have ever reported have been deleted grin i think

I got a right slagging on a thread a few months ago, got called a moron, pathetic and so on in a vicious and personal way by someone who I'd previously really admired (admittedly I was being a bit opinionated but I was still shocked). I didn't report it though, I preferred it to stand and be seen. If that had been me doing the slagging, I'd have been embarrassed and reported it myself.

I do think it's wrong to scream and shout abuse at people on here, even if you don't agree with them and they've pissed you off - and even if they do it to you. If it happens it means you've lost control and lost the argument.

you OK LL?

Guess we have to rely on the reporting system - we can't really expect mnhq to watch every thread in case we start screetching at each other over Katie Melua lyrics...

quadrophenia Wed 29-Aug-07 13:53:42

Littlelapin it happens to us all sometimes MN can be very annoying

quadrophenia Wed 29-Aug-07 13:54:29

I think posts where a poster has been called a name will always be deleted if requested.

zippitippitoes Wed 29-Aug-07 13:54:39
