Having a separate gender critical fourm

Hi having just tried to talk about something other than this current issue on the feminist forum I wondered if you could put all this in together so that other important issues don't get lost in the stream of one's about every aspect of that current topic then people who want to focus on that can and leave people to talk about issues that are also important to them.

This again? There's nothing stopping you posting whatever you want on the feminist chat board.

I’ve already hidden the fem chat topics but would love to hide all the trans discussion threads. There seem to be a lot of threads about it so maybe it would warrent it’s own topic.

As the majoity of the fourm is that at the moment and it is important then it would be easyer to do this. Apparently its been asked before so I'm sorry if it as but it just seems like a sensible thing to do. Yippee I am also hiding a lot of the posts in there so I can read the other stuff. I will read the big topic stuff on gra but I don't want to read every single incident in this or who did what when

It sounds like you've got the solution already- hide the stuff you're not interested in.

I don't like parking threads or mil threads but i don't demand they have their own section to please me.

You could start posting in one of the other feminist topics. Like theory

Yep finding it a lot better on there now but do keep having to hide all the new ones but hay ho I just thought id ask. But seems when you do people don't like it

Agree OP. Why do we need a hundred threads about the same bloody thing clogging up the whole board!

Just because you don't want to get involved with a particular aspect of feminism doesn't mean you can't discuss something else, but it also doesn't mean that everyone who does should bugger off.

Whether you have gender critical views or not, it's a hot topic and one that is intrinsically tied up with women's rights.

If there's another issue you want to discuss then post a thread.

As said by PP, not everyone is interested in parking threads or CF threads, but those who aren't don't get to demand a sub section.

And please don't do the zombie thing!

Feminism by its very nature is often gender critical - e.g. getting girls into STEM because gender had previously and typically discouraged girls from going that way.

Anyone is welcome to start a thread in feminism chat on whatever feminist topic they choose (unless I’ve missed something)

Hi there, Bespin. Yes, as others have said, this is something that has come up before, so clearly you aren't the only one thinking it's a good idea. However, we have always come to the conclusion that it would be unhelpful in so many other ways, it just wouldn't be for the best. We are always willing to listen though. If anyone has any new or interesting solutions that would keep everyone happy, we'd always like to hear them.

Can we also have a section for people who just like clothes and make-up in S&B? Confused

Just start your own threads on feminist topics you'd like to discuss, ignore anyone posting stuff you think is a derail and respond to people who post things you want to discuss.

Asking for everyone else to have to adjust because you don't like what other people are posting is never going to work.

Thanks mumsnet for the reply I'm realising that and I have turned off a lot of the stuff. Would like a section though in home and garden for people that don't live in a house was trying to find where to put an alternative living thread and was a little stumped lol

Well it depends what your thread would actually be about, but there can only be so many sub topics before it gets rediculous and people don't always bother with them.

If it relates to your home and/or garden then put it in H&G with a clear title.
