When a competition states in the terms and conditions that the prize (cinema tickets or meal for instance) would be let's say for a family of four, and you enter as a family of three, does it mean you are disqualified from the start due to not meeting the condition for the number of people? I kind of understand if it was a complicated arrangement, requiring exact numbers of people and exact configuration such as holiday to the other side of the world, but surely a meal or show ticket etc shouldn't be too strict about the exact numbers?
Am I wrong?

I think it just means you get 4 tickets. You don't have to use them all or you can take extra people and pay for them where appropriate. They have to specify or Rita with 9 kids, an elderly mum, 2 adopted nieces and her 4 poly partners would cost the prize giver a fortune.

Thank you ShowOfHands. I understand sticking with the max number of people, if they stipulate a family of four, it is for up to four, not five, yes to that.
It's just they never say "up to four", though. So it sounds as if unless either we borrow another child for the occasion, to make it four, we shouldn't enter.. that sort of thing. It's never clear in the T&Cs no matter whoever organises and gives it away free.
Anyway no big deal.
