Is it possible to block a topic on MN?

Yes, I know I don't need to click on any threads which fall in this category but even seeing the thread titles as a scroll through active thread pisses me off (irrational I know!)

Yes, it's one of the customise options. You can hide whole topics

Click thelittle arrow next to the big Talk header up at the top of the page andchoose customise. Scroll to the bottom and there's a section about hiding topics and managing hidden threads.

You may need to be on the desktop site? I'm not sure. These are mine and the solid purple box at the bottom where you cant read the text is the one you want!
