Mumsnet local. I don't live where you tell me I live

It ain't local, accessible or relevant!

Is there a solution to that? Or do I have to suffer it like the issue that if you send post to the place the automated post fill in says we don't get it. Yes I live in the middle of nowhere but no, where you tell me is local is NOT local for me.

For some reason I have "Mumsnet Local near you, Oldham and Rochdale" in green on the RHS of my posts. I've been a bit bugged by it since it appeared a few days ago.

I've just looked on google maps as I didn't have a clear idea where those were and no wonder, I'm nearly 300 miles away!

Can you answer why this comes up, MN?

It's to do with your IP I think. I have had a place 400 miles away on my phone and 70 miles away on my iPad

Well, I think mine is somewhat drunk. I've got Stockport, Penistone (is that a place??? How is it pronounced???), Norfolk and Bristol. Maybe covering all bases?
Nowhere near though, I too am in Italy.

There's a button on every local site that says 'make home site'.

If you find the one you're after, you should be able to change over!

Penistone is not far from me in south Yorkshire. Pronounced 'penny-stun' 😂

Anyway, the green ad at the bottom of the page here links to threads from Weston-Super-Mare and to Clapham, both of which are nowhere near me, but when I actually go onto the local talk board it takes me to my local area.
