Side banner ads

A banner ad each side of the webpage. Is this new? Its making the writing of the actual forum much smaller, as its being compressed more.
I'm on an iPad mini...the writing is now so ridiculously tiny with the banner ad each side it's practically unreadable. I'm having to magnify the page, which then makes scrolling difficult and unwieldy.
There is also another ad cutting in to the page. That makes three large ads on one page. Too many.
For reference, iPad mini, desktop site, Safari.

Hi SealSong,

Thanks for flagging this.

We're sorry this format is causing some issues for you, our ads team do test all adverts to make sure they don't affect usability of the site. This particular format has been capped at 2 per day, so if you are seeing it more often than that, please do let us know.

Our ads team have been testing this internally and they can't seem to see what issues you are experiencing. If possible, can you let us know which device, browser, and connection you are using, and we can then try to replicate. Can you also describe how it is affecting the usability of the site?

Thanks for your patience Flowers

As above..ipad mini, safari, desktop site.

If you have banner ads either side making the text area smaller, surely there should just be fewer words per line of text, at same size, rather than the same amount made ridiculously tiny?
Many people will be accessing this site on small tablets or devices such as ipad mini; MN tech needs to consider text size issues when squashing text area.
