Isn't it time we stopped

the threads about accessible loos and who can use them. They come up every couple of months, they always go the same way and as usual it's up to those of us with family members that need the facilities to explain to others. Who of course think we're entitled arses for daring to want to have free access to a facility specifically designed for us! Angry
Please, please consider zapping them, I've been having the same arguments for bloody years now.

Hi there @Dawndonnaagain, thanks for posting.
We appreciate that when these subjects crop up again and again on the boards, it can be quite tedious for seasoned MNers who have seen it all before. Having said that, we do have to give consideration to our newer posters who may well not be aware of this well-trodden path and on many occasions, do have genuine questions, asked in good faith.

We know from experience that just removing these kind of threads doesn't work. If we immediately take down every post and every thread in which somebody is asking a question but has got the terminology wrong, or is misinformed on the nature of disabilities, nobody is going to learn anything. We strongly believe that we need there to be discussions around these issues, so we can all be better informed. We need to keep the conversations going so that we can establish what is and isn't okay, what is and isn't disablist.

For that reason, we're going to leave the thread standing, at least for now, and we hope you understand our reasoning behind this. But do please get in touch with us if you see any posts which concern you.

I can see your reasoning, but equally it's not hard to search threads for previous ones.
Many posters also have a valid point about time of posting...

Having said all that, thanks for getting back to me. Flowers
Hope you have a good weekend.

Just imagine if topics that came up repeatedly were banned......

TBF, when I first joined MN, if you asked a question that was regularly asked, you got told to get yourself onto Advanced Search sharpish! An underused facility...

Let's discuss parent and child parking spots! Grin

Thing is there'd be nothing left.

Parent and child spaces
Pushchairs on buses
Sahm vs wohm
Mn royalty Hmm

There's rarely anything absolutely new.

Please don't think nobody is listening and learning. They are. Even if just lurking.

Of course you can't zap threads asking perfectly normal questions.

You can't expect everyone to Advance Search before posting about something and even if they do, this is their issue on that day, not someone's similar issue 5 years ago.

It's a chat forum, for people to chat, it's not an information forum where you are supposed to check out topics before posting.

The topic is mostly pretty obvious in the heading and if not, in the op.

You don't have to post on a thread if you are fed up of explaining why people are bang out of order, there are plenty of people to hand them their arse on a plate without you getting involved.

You don't have to have this argument, you are choosing to. Choose not to if you are fed up of doing so. Asking MN to delete threads you are fed up of seeing is nuts. Sorry Dawn, but it is.

If we all did that MN would no longer exist! 😖😂

I wonder if there's a topic that's not been discussed on MN yet?

People are individuals. They are entitled to post regarding their own lives without searching to see who has had similar issues in the past.

You need to ignore them, or if you can't do that, take a break from MN (or just AIBU). You simply can't dictate what others post about.
