Can I read only the op posts?

Desperatedaisy · 04/03/2017 23:14

Is there a setting that will allow me to only read the op response? Or at least highlight their responses?

Yes, it's in your settings somewhere. Can't remember where.

Sorry that's no help is it. You can though. You can change your posts to a different colour as well. That's handy as well.

ah right, above this thread there is a big TALK, click on the arrow next to it and it's all in there.

Yup. All the OP's posts are highlighted green in mine (and my posts are a sort of lilac) - it's great when you want to miss a few posts on a long thread Smile

I have gone to customise but cant seem to find the option I want
It has how many posts per page and options to hide certain topics and some options about notifications?????

Reading only the Op's posts would be a great option, especially when the thread has been going for a while before you found it.
Sometimes you're just too busy/tired to wade through all the responses but really want to know if the OP is ok

I would like this option too! :"so frustrating to wade through 10's of posts to get an OPs update

It should look like this?

TALK at top of all threads.

Customise

4th line down says 'highlight OPs posts in...' and there is a drop down so you can choose your colour

If the OP has a newer account, she may have been given a 'little' Customise which has fewer options on it. Those people with older accounts seem to have been grandfathered in on the 'big' Customise. ( The changes happened, if I recall, post Jeffreygate when I think - also - a number of people re-registered rather than just name changing.)

PS - the iOS app automatically puts the OP's posts in a different colour so you could always try that if you have the option.

(I'm afraid that I don't use the Android app so don't know what facilities it has.)

cosietoesie is right, my options are limited, I created my account about a year and a half ago maybe 2 years.
I am on android but cant log into the app as it says my password is wrong, even though I log in on the website daily and know it isnt.

I've reported the thread to MNHQ so hopefully some techy person will be able to help you out Smile

gamerchick · 05/03/2017 13:42

yeah I figured it was probably something like that after I last posted. It's such a useful feature though, especially for massive threads. I don't understand why it would be limited for newer accounts.

Hi Desperatedaisy,

If you go to the top of any thread you'll see a button next to the headline 'Talk' that has a downward facing arrow on it.
If you click on that button you'll see a list of options including one called 'Customise'. Click on that button and you'll get various options, including one called 'Talk options' which is about halfway down the page.
You can choose whatever options you like. The 4th option is "Highlight posts by thread author:" You can pick a colour for this in the dropdown.

Hope that helps.

The option to highlight OPs posts iin customise is not available if you have a fairly recent account.

The OPs posts should automatically be highlighted, however that doesn't always happen and there doesn't to be seem much you can do about it except to start a new account and see if that helps.

Hi Toni. Thanks for that.

Does it mean that everyone is to have access to the full range of Customise options? Smile

I've just been reading a thread on the android app where most of the OPs posts are in a particular colour, but a few are just purple and blend in with all the replies. Because it's only the OPs name that's a different colour makes it difficult enough when scrolling quickly, but I've no idea why some OP posts would be one colour and others different.

I use the mobile version on an Iphone so it might be different, but if I put all or part of the OP's name in the search box at the top of the page it gives the options of sesrch this page or search Google. Choose search this page and it highlights the first mention with an arrow to go to the next so you can click through them easily. Ctrl-F on a laptop does the same.

Saw this, and thought of this thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2864935-Skip-to-posts-by-OP

which is a request for a new feature.

I'm curious as well. Maybe they didn't know only some people have more access than others.

Hi, all!

At the moment, full customisation options are for members who have been around for quite a while. Really sorry about this.
