Have I outed myself by sending a thread link? Please help!

Have NC for this because I fear I may have outed myself.

I sent a link to a thread to a relative of mine on WhatsApp because of our shared interest in the subject matter.

I logged out, copied and pasted the link to the message from my phone. Is there any way she'd be able to see my MN identity from this?

When I click on the link from my phone my username and space to contribute comes up at the end of the page. Does it mean she can see it too or is my google account/phone account etc all so intertwined that it all automatically pops up on my device?

Thank you in advance.

I thin it's that your account automatically configures on your phone

Do you know whether that means she can see my username from her device then?

Please help, only changed my name once because of JeffreyGate so I am stressed she's going to be able to see my posting history (oh shit Xmas ShockXmas BlushXmas Sad)

Do you want me to PM you my phone number and you can whatsapp me the link and I'll click on and see if I can see your name?

I'm not in the uk so I don't know if that will make any difference?

I have always presumed that it just syncs with your phone laptop unless it is a screen shot where your user name would be visible.

Log out of MN on your phone then click the link.

Hi OP, sending a link to a thread would not reveal your login details to anyone- it would just be the thread.

Thank you very much for the replies (Agent thank you for your offer to help).

I also phoned her and asked her up front to check and she wasn't able to see anything to do directly with me.

I am a bit of a gobshite when it comes to all things techie. Panic over but I think it might be worth changing my username every now and again.

Thanks MNHQ as well!
