Are threads being deleted and leaving no deletion message now? Thread about netmums disappeared?

I posted on it less than an hour ago to say it wasn't a nice thread, but now it's disappeared

Is this part on the MN site witchcraft that's been occurring recently? I presume it got deleted and didn't leave a deletion message?

I saw the deletion message but only because I was on the actual thread when it was deleted. Deleted threads used to stay on TIO.

What was the deletion message OvO? Not in the spirit of the site?

My formatting is totally bonkers too - tio looks like this

I am really surprised MN don't have a staging site that they test all this stuff on before pushing it live

I wonder if the Night Watchers have been given a few more powers, i.e. they can delete threads - but maybe not be able to post a deletion message?

I've not seen a deletion message for any deleted thread that I'd happened to post on for a while, they simply disappear from threads I'm on or watching.

I can't find a thread I was watching from a few days ago. I think it was cocklodgers thread about an unknown woman knocking.on her door looking for her husband. Does anybody know?

Bagina that got deleted too, but i don't know why

TIO is a bit crap right now and I hope it will be properly fixed soon.

At least it does have threads in it, but there's random formatting, and it doesn't work properly if you click on a thread - always takes you to top of thread, not as before the post you click (to top only when you click the title)

It can be useful to be able to see that a thread has been deleted (rather than thinking you've just lost it). I don't think it's necessary to have a particularly detailed message though (remembers when they went really terse, following outbreak of really inane threads filled with posts saying 'I can't wait to see the deletion message on this')

'Bagina that got deleted too, but i don't know why'

There were at least two TAATs, also deleted, asking that yesterday. I think it was extensive but erroneous troll-hunting and the amount of unpleasantly strident criticism of OP for not updating in the way other posters wanted that did for it.

We did a little experiment over the weekend of setting up a silly thread and asking MNHQ to delete it. They did and I'm sure it was a very witty deletion message, but I never found out because it didn't show up on my TIO. So yes, that bit is still broken.

Report
Bagina · 17/10/2016 07:09

Oh thank you. I wasn't on here yesterday.

Report
Queenbean · 17/10/2016 08:41

Ok thanks, that explains things. Didn't want to feel like I was going mad and imagining things!

Hope mn sorts all this stuff out soon, site is getting frustrating to use

The "woman looking for my husband" thread deletion message said it was deleted for concerns, and that MNHQ would reinstate if their concerns were alleviated by the OP. It wasn't about the fighting or troll accusations (which may have been spot on...) unless it was reinstated and then removed again.

I think the TIO change has buggered up deletion messages as well as formatting and pretty much everything else.

Hi all,

Sorry about this, tech are taking a look.

Here's the Netmums thread we removed: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/a2757737-AIBU-to-think-Netmums-is-the-worst-site-on-the-internet?

Our deletion message was: 'We've taken this thread down as we don't feel it's in the spirit of the site and wouldn't like to be accused of slandering the competition!'

BlancheBlue · 17/10/2016 22:24

But is the issue going to be resolved so that in TIO will see the deletion messages for threads we have posted on?

Report
Queenbean · 18/10/2016 15:50

Agree, it's still like this today. MNHQ when will all the broken stuff be fixed?

There was one about benefits that I was on that seems to have disappeared (unsurprisingly, it got nasty!) but it's not showing up with a deletion message on my threads I'm on.

Report
BlancheBlue · 19/10/2016 00:07

No deletion message not back yet - was wondering where the benefits one went.

MNHQ please bring back the deletion messages - it's getting really tedious now!

A thread I was on was just deleted and disappeared out of my TIO. I had the thread open in a separate tab so saw the deletion message but it just disappearing is annoying.

Any progress MNHQ?
