How about NOT having to log in with email?

Originally, I had a nice, easy password that I never forgot. Then I was obliged to pick a more complicated password that was an annoyance to type. Then I was obliged to pick a third, even harder password and use my email to sign in.

It was already annoying, because I have more than one email and couldn't always remember how to sign in. But on top of that, I just was hearing Edward Snowden mention that having to use one's email to log into a site makes you more vulnerable to hacking.

So how about thinking of reverting back to our handles instead?

How does using your email make you more vulnerable to hacking??? Confused

Why don't you just log in and get your browser to save the password? or email yourself your password.

If you can log in with your username, then anybody has 'half' of your login details.

I imagine that it only makes you more vulnerable to hacking if you use the same password for everything.

The problem with usernames is that anyone can hack.
Someone could try your username and then 'hack' your account on here - not sure why they'd go the hassle - unless they then get more of your details such as your email and then hack that.

Are you kidding? Emailing yourself the password or saving the password is hardly going to enhance your security.

SoupDragon, yes, apparently a lot of people do use the same email and the same password. Ego147, I'm on a bunch of forums with user-name log-ins and have never had them hacked.

At least other forums give you the choice of which to use.
