..and now mn on my phone is not the nice convenient mobile site any more. It's too small. I don't like it. I've been looking everywhere and i can't work out how to change it back.

scroll down to the very bottom of the page and see if there is a clicky link that says mobile site

Scroll right to the bottom of the page, below all the ads. There is a special button that will put it back to mobile site.

Scroll all the way to the bottom and in the centre it says 'mobile site'.

Yep very bottom near the edge of the page.

It is handy when you want to upload a picture and the mobile site isn't playing nicely.
