Livid - porn on my phone! please help

I'm not the most tech savvy person, can anyone help please?

Last night I was posting on Mumsnet and an advert for a sex chat site appeared out of nowhere which had a close up video of a woman using a vibrator on herself that completely filled the screen Angry.

How did I inadvertently do this? It was on the Louise Mensch thread, I followed a link to the tweet and read it, then went back to post my message. I think when I hit post is when the porn appeared but I can't be entirely sure. I couldn't work out how to get it to stop either for a minute, or how to close the page.

I don't want porn on my phone ffs! What can I do?

Best post this in site stuff, or message MNHQ.

(Or just report your own post to have the thread moved to site stuff)

This happened me on a mumsnet thread once too, can't remember what I was reading but suddenly there was a pop up screen with porn.

The good news is that it was a complete one off and has never happened since. Was really strange though.

So it's something to do with Mumsnet rather than my phone then?

Does anyone else use your phone? Do you download a lot of apps or go onto less naice websites than Mumsnet?

I wonder if you have a virus and if it were my phone I'd install and run a virus check now.

What phone are you on? Android or iPhone?

It's happened to me too - there is an existing thread in Site Stuff about it. If memory serves, it was a dodgy ad that was the cause, so might be worth posting in Site Stuff and reporting the post so that MNet know it's happening again.

I don't know TBH, but I just know it happened me a few months ago. One minute reading about neighbours parking in someone's parking space, then suddenly a bit of an unpleasant surprise.

Someone else has posted something similar www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2685877-Virus - although she was on a laptop, but it also happened to her last night.

Could be something to do with MN. Always worth reporting it to them so they can check their side of things.

Hi bibbity,

Sorry to hear something dodgy has popped up on your phone.

We're going to move this thread over to Site Stuff and flag the issue to our Tech and Ads team to see if they can check things out.

Thanks Dawn.

I'm using an LG phone, I think its android.

How would I know if I'm on the mobile site or the app?

Bibbity... I am the virus person with the thread but it was from a link that someone posted.

Unfortunately it's turned out to be worst scenario imaginable, I have to go back to Win8.1 and basically start again with installing Win10. I just hope i can get it installed before the free update expires at the end of the month. Have had to back everything up, will lose all my programs settings etc and my laptop is now with a virus expert to do some of this costing £100. Even my homepage of google was a fake page as was all searches, everything has been compromised and that's just from clicking a link on here, so I hope your probelm is not as bad as mine.

I've just reported a post in this thread
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2686562-How-do-you-label-school-uniform (sorry cocktail queen) as the link took me through to a site promising me I'd won an iPhone 7.
I've tried the link again and it's working but how could the link be hijacked? Confused

Hi again bibbity,

If you're using an android phone, then you're more than likely using the mobile site. There IS no app currently available on android, only for iPhones (but we're working on it!) Smile

Has the dodgy porn popped up again since Friday? Our Tech team are on the case, but we're hoping you haven't been subjected to it again in the meantime.

Gosh, Roussette, we're so very sorry that your laptop has been compromised by what appears to have been a dodgy link posted on here. We really hope the expert manages to sort things and that you haven't lost anything crucial. Gutted for you at the expense, though. Sad

We'd always advise caution before clicking on any links that are posted online - we're sorry if this advice is too late for you, Roussette. If you're ever suspicious of a link, please don't click on it, just report it to us so we can check it out or remove it altogether.

We really hope your laptop recovers. Flowers

Hey Mnhq, this just happened to me too - on mobile site on chrome (on Android phone), clicked on a thread from active and straight to a porn site, so not a link on a thread or anything. Course I can't blooming remember what thread it was!

I've only ever had this when using MN on my android phone. It's revolting. Happened a few times.

Just happened to me! Not porn but a spam website that led me away from the mumsnet page I was on.

Not 100% certain but I am fairly sure it auto-directed me away from thr page as it loaded. Fairly certain i didn't click on an advert although sometimes I can click on one by accident.

Samsung mobile, Chrome browser.

Needs some urgent work! AYD2 - grim
