Can't change e-mail address

Hi, I can't change my e-mail address under my account. I delete the old one, type in the new one, re enter my password and then press save changes, but the page disappears and doesn't reload. When I check, the e-mail address is still the old one. It does this every time and has been like this for weeks.
Also, I can't find how to stop e-mails that tell me when a thread I'm watching or on has a new post. It puts me off posting when I know I'll get a deluge of e-mails. Can anyone tell me how to stop this? Thanks.

We're wondering if you haven't seen our email because you no longer have access to the email account you registered with (hence wanting to change said email)?

If you're still having this issue, could you please give us a few details that will help our Tech team -

  1. Can you let us know which device you're using (mobile, pc, Mac, laptop, iPad etc)?
  2. If you're using a mobile, which one is it (Samsung, Blackberry, iPhone etc) ?
  3. What browser are you using (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google, Chrome etc)?
  4. Are you accessing Mumsnet via the main site, the mobile site or the app?

Hi,

I do have access to the e-mail account registered, but I did not receive the original e-mail. I have received an e-mail from you, on that account yesterday. I wish to change the e-mail address as it's a work account that I used without thinking.
I'm using a PC running Windows 10 and using Google Chrome and am accessing the webpage via the main site.

Hi Sentry,

Dan from Tech here, we're really sorry this is happening, this one has really had us scratching our heads for a few days but we think we've finally found out what was causing this issue. It seems when on your account page and filling out information, if it autofills your postcode area it was adding in some extra spaces making the postcode longer than it should be. We're implementing a fix which should be released as soon as possible but for the time being if you need to change your email have a look at these sites on how to turn off autocomplete on your browser for the time being.

Hope this helps you guys change your email while the fix is being put in place.

We've released a fix for this so you should be able to change your email without any issues.

I've just tried to change my e-mail address and whilst the page doesn't hang any more, it tells me that someone is already registered with the e-mail address. I had registered a number of years ago, but deregistered after all the problems with the website being hacked. Why is my e-mail address still registered? Do you keep e-mail addresses on record even if an account has been closed?
