I would like to think so but I would err towards reporting 'em all

[Hijack : we haven't had any Maths For Fun from you recently, not that I'm much cop but at a Pub Quiz the French Foot came up and I nailed a point which made me very happy End Hijack]

You know. The ones that weren't reported but now seem to be troll bait?

Does the big red button delete all their threads? Or do they need to be reported to be deleted?

Good question
Not always - we try and delete as few threads as we can.

This poster was zapped as a troll earlier, they had started numerous threads over the past few days. One a bit emotional about being a Nanny to 2 young children who's mother had passed away.

I think all their threads do need reviewing, but can't remember their NN in order to report them all.

The only deletion message I've seen tonight is a very Guilt inducing telling off blush The sort of telling off my ds used to be very impressed by- " it made me feel as if I had been properly bad mum!"

SilverBirchWithout Tue 14-Jun-16 22:56:57

I've got that message as well Bert. Still think everyone was right though.

I reported a few threads the other day and haven't received an email sad wails mumsnet where's my email?

PacificDogwod Tue 14-Jun-16 23:08:03

I felt v contrite too, Bertrand and Silver blush
But glad the thread went - nothing good was ever going to come of it.

IMO troll does not equal troll - I'd that if somebody posted, say, emotionally vampyric bereavement threads that ALL their thread should go, shouldn't they? Or the stocks tbh… hmm

I was on a gardening thread about if you have ever been stung.

When i went back to it there was a message saying thread deleted due to the poster not being genuine!!

How on earth can you troll about being stung by bees and wasps??

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp Tue 14-Jun-16 23:13:07

There's plenty at it

They are too clever for HQ to deal with tho.... Pbp central

We reply to every one - we will look into this

KateLivesInEngland Tue 14-Jun-16 23:19:13

I've reported tons of threads, a lot get deleted and I've only ever had one deletion message!
I reported one today - the 'Ramadam' post. It was deleted very soon after but nada in the way of deletion messages!!

The trouble with the high level of trolls at the moment, is everyone is instinctively not believing the outlandish ones.

Just because MNHQ cannot always get enough evidence to confirm an OP is not genuine, it doesn't mean they are not actually trolling.

mineofuselessinformation Tue 14-Jun-16 23:20:15

Sorry, PresidentOliviaMumsnet, but that's just not true. I reported a post yesterday and haven't had a reply.

SilverBirchWithout Tue 14-Jun-16 23:25:07

I received the email below earlier today, advising that a batch of reports had gone missing again. I also saw a post but MNHQ saying it had created a bit of a backlog, so there were delays in responding to days reports.

I'm still waiting on replies to a couple I reported yesterday.

Hi SilverBirchWithout,

We're so sorry for the delay in responding - there seems to have been a major blockage in our Reports system and we've just had a whole sackful arrive in our inbox from a day or two ago, yours being one of them.

Just letting you know that this thread is long gone! The OP's been escorted from the premises too.

Thanks for taking the time to report and, again, huge apologies for the delay here.

Best wishes,

I've been wondering about this very issue. If someone is exposed as a troll, why don't all of the thread they started get zapped? The troll mentioned it his thread has still git two threads on the go that give contradictory information confused

Just because MNHQ cannot always get enough evidence to confirm an OP is not genuine, it doesn't mean they are not actually trolling

So the nanny whose boss wanted her to move in was a troll? How bizarre!

I've reported a rather disturbing post, quite some time ago, it's still there and I've had no email. I'm sure mine is one of the reports that have got held up, but I can't be the only person to have reported that thread.

Jbck Wed 15-Jun-16 09:49:41

Ive only reported a few threads in many years on the site and I dont think Ive ever had an email, I may be wrong for I am old. Is it an actual email or message to your inbox.

Runs off to check big email spreadsheet for forums.......

SpaceUnicorn Wed 15-Jun-16 10:09:07

They're actual emails, though I tend to only get them about 50% of the time.

I reported two of the nanny troll's other threads, I received emails agreeing that yes, it's the same troll, but the threads are still there and aren't locked confused

TheFirie Wed 15-Jun-16 10:46:29

Well, I have reported several in the last years and have always received a reply from MNHQ. Even a personalised reply, not a random "send to all".

Mumsnet is quite busy on the troll-front, poor trolls, I almost feel sorry for them, they can't find in their real life anything interesting enough to post, so they need to invent it.
What an empty life they must have to find satisfaction in doing this!

ScarletOverkill Wed 15-Jun-16 10:51:40

I reported a thread once that MNHQ deleted. They then went on to delete all the threats started with that NN.

KateLivesInEngland Wed 15-Jun-16 10:54:45

The Australian child with rash post has been pulled. I reported that minutes after it appeared and continued to report it daily! No message or email? I just don't seem to get them!

blueskyinmarch Wed 15-Jun-16 10:55:36

I only ever get a response from MNHQ if i report using my laptop. If i report on the mobile app i never get any response. I now tend to not report from my phone.
