Can we have a sticky on divorce/separation pitfalls?

I was originally gonna say on practical advice for divorce/separation but I think MNHQ would say no as technically there's articles on mn. (Woefully basic in my opinion and apparently not regularly updated).

What's not available is a permanent easy to refer to guide to protecting yourself from ex's behaving unfairly!

Myself and many other mners have experienced ex's taking the proverbial over money mainly.

I'm not advocating mners act illegally, but many mners have been caught out by ex's deceiving them, playing on emotional weakness/disorientation.

There's also nothing in the current mn articles addressing mners divorcing/separating that are students or disabled/ill.

Who's going to police it for incorrect advice? And how? An updated proper article would be good though.

I think an updated more informative article would be great, with a link to it in the 'relationships' thingy at the top of the board ? (The one with links to info on dv etc)

Just to be clear I'm more than happy to be involved in giving advice to people posting BUT not everyone posts.

Could the article be backed up by results of a survey?

mn do a survey on what those of us have been through it experienced? A type with ratings, best advice they received, advice they wished they'd received?

Eg I wish someone had told me MUCH earlier that I was allowed to change lawyers.

Problem is that many people will have received advice that is "dodgy". How would you check that all the information from a survey is factually correct?

For example many many women have received advice on here to "kick him out and change the locks" and for many people that may have worked, but legally you can't do that.

But the survey results could form the basis of the article, the article could say something like 'we should say this is illegal but many people found x y z advice useful'
