Why can't we hide threads without opening them?

When a thread says it's triggering or is one of the sort I don't want to read it would be nice to be able to hide them in order to see what else comes up in active, for instance. Why can't we hide a thread based on title content?

I can, on both iPhone/iPad mobile site and desktop. There's 3 little dots next to the thread title in Active convos which give you the option to hide if you tap it. Or the little minus button next to the thread title on the desktop will hide it from active convos.

In fact it says 'hide' at the top of the page.

I have the same issue on my iPad when reading active threads. I have to open the sponsored ones to hide them,

forsythja, I'm on my iPad, do not have 4 columns on active threads with last one being 'hide' and a column if minuses underneath? I just click the minus to hide a thread without opening it.

To be fair, I'm on my phone, so will look later on laptop but no. Fire example, when I have active on and the list of active threads comes up I would have to open one to hide it. I've tried holding the thread title to see if that activates options without opening the thread but it doesn't.

I have a Samsung. I tried swiping just now and that didn't do anything. Could it be my phone settings?

I was thinking how it would bring up so many new threads. I've been on mn a while and have said all I'm going to say about the temp I wash my knickers, why I don't wear pj's in bed, how often I change my bedding and whether I think it's ok to leave a drunk partner to fend for themselves but I understand these topics will continue to be popular as newer joiners ponder these things.

So it seems the verdict is that my inability to do so is my phone or settings.

Are you using the mobile site or the app? On the mobile site on my iphone there are three dots on the right of the thread title in active. Click those three dots and you get the option to Watch or Hide the thread.

Also on the mobile site, if you click the wee down arrow at the top of the Active list (it's on the same line as "Talk > Active" you get can go to Customise, which has the option to Show Thread Options. Maybe that one will switch on the Hide thread linky in Active.

On a Samsung when you see the thread title, are there three little dots on the right hand side? Click on them and hide option drops down.

Whole Topics??? I will go back and look this up, thanks! Honestly, I have spent far too much time today hiding threads. I feel like I'm playing one of those games where the bubbles touch and disappear. I'm also reading the odd thread and enjoying seeing new things pop up!

On a PC there is a drop down arrow next to the word "talk" at the top, if you choose customise and go dwon to the bottom of the page you can move the topics you want to hide so you never see anything from them.

I don't use the app so dont know if it's the same but probably it is

It took me a while to get around to this but I was able to follow your directions and have now hidden the vast majority of things and I'm thrilled, just wanted to say thanks lifesalongsong.
