issue with app - losing thread!

I use the MN app on iPhone - I'm on IOS 8.2.1 and had the new purple version that came out last year. I reinstalled MN a couple of months ago so I think I have the latest version.

In the past, I could click in and out of the app and it would still be open at the same page - e.g. If I was reading a thread in S&B, I could click on all the links to various frocks and then go back to MN and still have the same thread open. If I was halfway through writing a post and wanted to link to a frock myself, I could also leave the app to c+p the link and then return to my half-written post.

If I left the app for longer then it would tend to reopen at the 'home page' (I.e. Active).

In the last couple of weeks, every time I click on a link or leave the app for a sec to check on something, when I go back to MN I get the little holding circle and then it resets to the home page. It's so annoying as I then have to search through to find the thread I was on, which may have fallen off Active by then.

I have tried coming out the slow way (ie clicking once out of MN and back to my home screen and then into Google/safari) and the quick way (double clicking so I can see all open pages/apps and selecting one).

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions MN?

Hope I've explained that clearly enough.

Thanks Smile

Hi, I never received a reply to this but continuing to have the problem. It's so frustrating not being able to click on links and then return to the thread, especially if it has disappeared from Trending by then.

It's difficult, sometimes, to distinguish between what might be an actual app error and what might be a different 'functionality' in the app process. (It's never going to be as all-singing as the main site for example.) I've come across a good number of 'niggles' in the app so I'll mention them in a review of it. (I've lost some lengthy posts by using it for example but I know why it happened and I don't know whether that would count as my fault or whether the app is responsible. You learn the workarounds, I think.)

It's certainly not as 'forgiving' an application as the main site.

Yes, I'm used to it occasionally resetting or losing posts - if I write a long post I always copy it to my clipboard before posting just in case.

But this is every time I click on a link or leave and return to the app and is a new thing. I wondered if it was to do with the version I was using or if anyone else was finding the same. If it is useful, my icon has an orange dot next to it.

That little orange circle means you're on the 'Test' version as far as I know. I'm on it also and I don't recall experiencing the same frequency of error as you, I'm afraid.

Can I ask, out of interest, whether you've recently cleared out your cache etc on the iPhone - is it Safari that you view links in? - and switched it off properly?

PS - I access the app on a pretty chunky iPad (capacity-wise) which is cleared very regularly in any case. (And switched off properly from time to time.) It would be interesting to be able to dismiss any possible 'over-eating' symptoms from your problems.

Yes it's Safari, I close the pages regularly apart from a few which I use regularly. I probably switch off fully a couple of times a week.

Thanks for trying to help!

Ah well. You've posted so Tech should now know there's an issue. Smile
