I'm re-reading this at the moment and just wondered if mnhq would consider asking the author to do a webchat. She has overcome bulimia, apparently very easily, by changing the way she related to her urges to binge. Her approach also works for binge eating disorder. Here's a link to her website
Thanks smile

Hi there
Thanks for this, and your reported post OP. We've moved back to site stuff.
Anyone else think this would be a good web chat person?
We can make no promises but if folk are interested we'll see what we may be able to do.

Thanks Olivia, and thanks everyone else. Would be great if this happened!

Yes please. It's an extremely helpful book!

FaithAscending Wed 17-Feb-16 17:01:12

I definitely would! I've just finished reading this book and started putting her approach into practice. After years of feeling beholden to binging habits and unconscious eating I finally believe I've broken the habit. I'd like a webchat to say thabks!

Great Ellie! Have you read the book? I've just re read it and am finding it really helpful. I'd forgotten a lot of it and wish I'd re read it sooner. I'm finding it incredibly easy not to binge now smile

Do we have to have a certain number of interested posters Olivia?

Ellieboolou27 Mon 22-Feb-16 14:19:06

I've not read the book but will order from amazon as I've always had issues with binge eating, I can go all day being "good" then once the kids in bed I start to gorge!

whatdoIget Mon 22-Feb-16 14:48:53

I know the feeling! I had completely stopped binging for a couple of years, due to this book, but fell back into it recently and was telling g myself it was for emotional reasons, triggers etc. I've read the book again and since I finished it have not binged (4 days). I'm really pleased because I feel like I'm in control again and back on track.
I always meant to re read it but life got in the way. I think if you've binged before it's easier to get back into the habit, but I really can't see a way I'd be able to binge now smile
It's a really sensible book. I'm so pleased I recommended it to someone on another thread and then took my own advice and read it again!

I'm really pleased you made me aware of this book as I've yo yo dieted most of my adult life! I got into good habits and got (almost ) to my comfortable / ideal weight, then fell pregnant, I didn't put on much weight and actually lost all of my baby weight within 7-8 weeks! Then my baby started sleeping through and I'm back up to 12st (4lb less than what I was at 9 months)!!! Come 8pm I eat junk and can't seem to break the habit. My baby is 6 months now, I also have a 3.5 year old and I want to set my girls up for a healthy attitude to food. Really looking forward to reading the book. Thank you!

It's a brilliant book and I really hope it helps you smile

I've read loads of books about binge eating and they all come from the perspective of seeing it as a symptom of some kind of deeper emotional problem. This is really different in that the author says that the urges to binge are just caused by the lower brain sending faulty signals, and if you don't give them much attention, the urges don't have any power over you. Obviously there's a bit more to it than that, it's quite a long book, but that's it in a nutshell, and it does work.
