No, you can't view threads you've just posted on
No, you can't view active
No, blank in response to threads you're watching
And blank to the threads you tried to comment on.
Nothing!

I face booked including videos in between and then...

Feck all!
And in thanks I have signed up to net mums (thanks to potato gate) and am posting prolifically (until I get banned as I've only adjusted my swearing for now) so there!

Fuckityfuck.

I had a look at Netmums during the night in desperation but turned out I wasn't desperate enough to want to register!

Yeah, I couldn't get on last night either - I was expecting a big hoo-ha today. But I just logged on and loads of threads are in 'hidden' when I haven't hidden them. Weird.

Some sort of banner explanation might be a good idea, HQ - Gawd knows how many users you've potentially lost worldwide through the last - 12 hours (?) - outage so stemming the flow could be useful.

I'm not convinced this is the end of the DDOS attack that brought the site down for so long.

Report
PlayingHouse · 12/08/2015 10:42

MN was under attack from a twat who set up a twitter account to boast how he taken MN down through a DDOS attack (I think that's what it's called)

LIZS · 12/08/2015 10:42

Agree a pinned message might help as to what is available. Didn't even say it was back on fb.

Report
SusanMichelson · 12/08/2015 10:43

I'm not convinced it was the twat on twitter. I think he was just waving his willy around pretending to be clever.

MagpieCursedTea · 12/08/2015 10:44

I went to NM too. I used their search function to look up MN to see if anyone had posted about the outage here Blush

Report
cozietoesie · 12/08/2015 10:45

It was a DDOS attack?

Report
PlayingHouse · 12/08/2015 10:47

I can't navigate NM. Tried to post a thread. Had an email saying it had been moved to a more relevant topic.

I have no idea where I posted it or where it is now Grin

yup - I wasn't convinced by twitter bloke either.

It was claimed as a DDOS attack on Twitter, and not refuted by MN, who spent the entire time blushing and making out the problem was not having put 50p in the meter or something. Very happy for MN not to confirm any details of what happened, since that's clearly what the sad sack on Twitter wants. Given the number of times this site has failed over the last few years, it's even possible it was not an attack, just more evidence their kit is not sufficiently robust to run this kind of website.

MadAngryGnome · 12/08/2015 10:50

Sleepy baby feeds are a lot more boring without mumsnet. And hardly any updates! Shock

Report
SusanMichelson · 12/08/2015 10:51

I think Trib that many websites are vulnerable - it doesn't mean they aren't good enough, it's just an inevitable and thankfully rare incident. I am certain MN is upgrading their kit constantly.

Report
cozietoesie · 12/08/2015 10:52

I saw the tweet about some sad person setting up a fake twitter account - although if I was MN, I'd have long ago covered all bases on that.

Who knows - yet? I think their users could do with a little explanation. Their advertisers will certainly ask for one.

If it was a DDOS attack then better not to give those responsible the satisfaction of acknowledging it.

Report
mummylin2495 · 12/08/2015 10:53

Now why didn't I think to go and look at netmums ! All I kept doing was refreshing " is it down " to find out the status of MN.
