Can I stop Sticky Threads building up on my phone?

CalmYoBadSelf · 08/08/2015 19:34

I leave MN open on my laptop and on my phone as no-one else uses either. Laptop is fine but whenever I get to the phone (Android if that matters) Active is cluttered up with loads of sticky threads which I can only clear by logging out and back in again.

I did this about half an hour ago and it is back up to having 11 of these at the top of Most Active already. I can't find any way to customise and block these but they are driving me mad.

Anyone got any ideas or advice please?

I don't think you can stop them building up and it is a known issue. It is a pain having to log out and back in to clear them

Yep. We've been told that someone techy will look at the issue, but it is still happening and has for ages.

You just have to keep logging out and back in to clear them.

Why they are tagged as having to stick on active on devices when you can easily choose to not let them on the normal site I don't know.

In fact, I don't know why some of the subjects even deserved to have been stickies in the first place.

I've hidden all stickies. Takes too much room up.

I mentioned it on a thread over a year ago. One person suggested my phone was shit and MN offered nothing. Every so often I clear the data and log back in but it's a pain in the arse.

I'm relieved that it is not just me but irritated that it is a known problem that isn't getting sorted. They're now up to 13 so you can see how quickly they stack up

I've clicked on something in customise on the laptop so have stopped the sticky threads on here and was hoping that would sort the phone too but no joy.

I'm going to report my thread to MN in the hope that they might do something, although they're probably too busy running about trying to restore colours and deal with the fallout of us all having seventy-million watched threads! Grin

Hi Calm,

Is this on the mobile site of the app?

Report
dementedpixie · 10/08/2015 10:33

It's the app on android

I currently have 42 to scroll through to get to the actual threads as its a pain logging out and back in again

logged out and back in and am down to 5 again

Yes it's the app on Android Rebecca.

Whereas, on the laptop, sticky threads appear at the top of the Active list but then disappear and are replaced by others, on the app, they just keep coming and building up so you end up with loads that you have to scroll down through to get to the active threads. The only way to clear them is to log and back in again.

As demented said it is so annoying as you either have to wade through them every time or keep logging in and out

Yep, it's the android app I'm having issues with.

That and the lack of photos are my only 2 complaints about the app. (And that my Samsung tab doesn't auto-capitalise the first word of new sentences, but that could be my tabs settings not the app).

I hated the app so much that I uninstalled it and just use the mobile site. The android app is pants.

The app only shows 50 active threads at a time, which is why the build up of stickies is such a problem. I've not signed out for a couple if weeks so I have 30 stickies so can only see 20 active threads.

Mine's the app too. 28 stickies today.

On mine you have to go to "settings" then "applications" and onto "mumsnet" then delete the cache then back onto the app and log back in, where it'll crash and reload the second time with all but the current stickies gone

I'm always logged in & only use my phone so would have to reset my password (again). I'm on Android too, it a real pain.

Thanks all for your help.
Apologies, this is a problem with the app and can be fixed, albeit annoyingly, by logging out and back in again or try OhHolyFuck's solution.

We do have a new app out shortly but sadly only on ios, we are looking at an android app but probably not until next year. You can log into the mobile site using the browser on your phone if that helps?

Apologies again.

It's my biggest bug bear of the app on my android, 130 stickies on my app right now, I may need to log out and back in because I didn't realise just how many there was,

On the iPad it's only a few
