Is this the place to put it?

Please would MNHQ consider giving us a [boak] smiley.

Pretty please??

SaulGood Thu 11-Jun-15 11:38:40

Don't people just use envy?

00100001 Thu 11-Jun-15 11:39:31

ys, but then have to explain that they mean boak, not envy!

00100001 Thu 11-Jun-15 11:39:45

I was thinking it might be similar to confused but green smile

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet (MNHQ) Thu 11-Jun-15 12:18:35

Do you mean like a cheek puffed out kind of thing?

Will present this to the smiley committee and report back.

00100001 Thu 11-Jun-15 17:33:12

kinda, like a vomit thing... like you're going to be sick, but holding it back!!

a bit like this perhaps

(Sorry run out of images to post today!)

We've historically not had a boak smiley as there are lots of folk who suffer from emetophobia

usualsuspect333 Thu 11-Jun-15 20:28:00

Oh the committee had said no then. grin

Did you have a bunfight?

00100001 Thu 11-Jun-15 22:32:13

That's not a no.... That's a "we have never had one before"

00100001 Thu 11-Jun-15 22:37:17

Also, don't want one with actual vomit coming out, just one like the above smile

SwedishEdith Thu 11-Jun-15 22:38:38

I had a tutor called Mr Boak

I do think the envy one works and generally you know what it means through context. It's fairly regularly used and the distinction is usually clear from the conversation taking place.

As an emetophobe myself, I do think the smiley face linked is too much.

You could keep asking though. I asked for a sex topic 5 years ago and they've just made one. grin

00100001 Fri 12-Jun-15 12:04:44

ha ha... well they haven't said no yet, so I'm guessing it's on the Agneda for the next Smiley Comittee meeting grin

And besides, what about all those people with Anthophobia or Oenophobia??

Or is it a no? smile

00100001 Thu 25-Jun-15 19:17:50

... guess not sad

Impostersyndrome Sat 27-Jun-15 22:30:55

Please no!

RebeccaMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 29-Jun-15 09:16:38

We think we may just give this one a side swerve for now, as we know there are many folks who aren't keen on this and we would like to see a bit of a ground swell/ general consensus when we bring in new smileys.

Apologies 00100001 and thanks for the suggestion.

I've always found [boak] perfectly adequate. Although boak is not a word I have ever come across other than on MN so actually I wouldn't use it at all.

Blue2014 Mon 29-Jun-15 09:23:16

I'm with mermaid, it's a green heart to me too, caused all sorts of confusion once when I appeared to be vomiting at someone I was actually sending positive thoughts to!
