Hi Ladies

Could we have an "over 50's" category?

I am seriously becoming more and more shocked and upset with AIBU/Chat. The amount of "scoffing" and nastiness on mumsnet is very unpleasant.

BOFster Sat 14-Feb-15 15:15:54

Try Gransnet? It's a lot more civilised.

I not sure what having an Over 50s topic would do that simply hiding the more unpleasant topics wouldn't. It also implies that only those of a certain age are "civilised" which isn't always the case smile

Pagwatch Sat 14-Feb-15 15:21:34

I'm over 50 and also nasty and unpleasant. Where do I go ?

BIWI Sat 14-Feb-15 15:22:18

What on earth is being over 50 to do with anything?! Do you think that people mysteriously morph from 'nasty' to 'nice' when they hit 50?! grin

No way should anything on here be segregated because of people's age.

BOFster Sat 14-Feb-15 15:23:59

I agree about age being no indicator of attitude; I've linked to Gransnet because it's similar to MN but less rude. Apparently.

PrettyFeet Sat 14-Feb-15 15:27:26

Give it a rest you lot. Just don't post

BOFster Sat 14-Feb-15 15:28:50

Well, there's always that option.

It's not compulsory to post on mumsnet if you aren't enjoying it.

PrettyFeet Sat 14-Feb-15 15:30:14

Am i directing the question at you bof.

Funny how all the posters so far are the biggest offenders.

Sparklingbrook Sat 14-Feb-15 15:32:48

Not sure about Over50s but can we have a MumsnetNice category?

PrettyFeet Sat 14-Feb-15 15:34:04

Call it anything but a place where the nasty ones are banned.

Marshy Sat 14-Feb-15 15:36:26

Isn't it enough to deal with being over 50 without having to be nice as well? grin

BOFster Sat 14-Feb-15 15:37:19

Would you like to point out where I've been rude to you? confused

Marshy Sat 14-Feb-15 15:37:57

Err.....doesn't that already happen pretty ?

Sparklingbrook Sat 14-Feb-15 15:38:30

I think pick threads to post on wisely, hide topics that attract the unpleasant types, hide the threads that are clearly cobblers and try not to care too much.

PrettyFeet Sat 14-Feb-15 15:40:17

Yes sparkling, that's probably what I will have to do.

So sick of the passive aggressive posting.

Honeydragon Sat 14-Feb-15 15:42:12

<debates mentioning the every day ageism campaign>

Excuse me?? confused

Sparklingbrook Sat 14-Feb-15 15:44:37

Is it ageist to insinuate Over 50s are nicer than under 50s though? grin That's youngist surely?

Honeydragon Sat 14-Feb-15 15:45:21

I thinks she's saying your horrible and nasty Soupy. Obviously not me, I got here after grin

Bunbaker Sat 14-Feb-15 15:47:32

I am well over 50, but wouldn't want an over 50 topic. I think topics are more relevant aimed at your stage in life or interests rather than age.

I had DD late in life, but would have more in common with a parent 20 years younger than me if they had a DD the same age as my DD, than someone who goes on Saga holidays.

Marshy Sat 14-Feb-15 15:49:20

I'm fairly certain it is ageist sparkling . You're confusing oldist and youngist those aren't real words

Honey that's pure luck grin

BIWI Sat 14-Feb-15 15:50:15

Can you point out how I'm an offender, please?
