To ask MNHQ to highlight OP and my posts in a thread.

(26 Posts)
raltheraffe Fri 26-Dec-14 16:15:41

Sometimes I skim read a long thread to look for OP's updates and my posts and their immediate responses.

I cannot understand why OP's posts are indistinguishable from other posters. They should be in a different shade of blue so I can pick them out more easily.

While I am on the topic I will repeat my request for a tiny violin smiley for when someone is on a self-pity trip.

Just customise the posts.

OnTheThursdayOfChristmas Fri 26-Dec-14 16:16:59

You can do this.
Through customise I think.
I have done it smile

eurochick Fri 26-Dec-14 16:17:39

You can customise your colours to do this already.

woowoo22 Fri 26-Dec-14 16:17:41

You can change your settings on the desktop and mobile versions to do this. As far as I know doesn't work on the app. Which is a PITA.

Select customise, and you can pick a colour for your posts and a colour formOP posts, and it will apply to all threads.

AuntieStella Fri 26-Dec-14 16:18:08

Which version are you in?

The ordinary (desktop) site already has those functions - the highlight OP's and own posts that is, not tiny violins. Look under 'customise'

NoLongerTheSeasonToBeJolly Fri 26-Dec-14 16:19:18

YABU as customise as at the top, just click on it.

Groovee Fri 26-Dec-14 16:20:07

On the mobile app you can't do this

Feminine Fri 26-Dec-14 16:20:32

You show up as blue to me, so it can be done smile

VitalStollenFix Fri 26-Dec-14 16:20:59

That option already exists. Go to customise.

Feminine Fri 26-Dec-14 16:21:12

I am on my phone.

Trills Fri 26-Dec-14 16:24:36

Yab a bit u to be asking for something that already exists.

BackforGood Fri 26-Dec-14 16:28:05

Yup. Agree with Trills.
YABU to ask for something that is already there.

OP's posts are all green, and my posts are all purple on my PC (slightly different colours but still distinguishable on my tablet).

raltheraffe Fri 26-Dec-14 16:31:27

I have done it now, thank you for the information I did not know about it.

Now all I need is the tiny violin emoticon.

TremoloGreen Fri 26-Dec-14 18:18:19

is there a way to do this on the app? I have it online but find the phone app a bit frustrating for this same reason.

thatstoast Fri 26-Dec-14 18:21:20

It was a while before I knew how to do this. Makes mumsnetting much more efficient!

Dowser Fri 26-Dec-14 18:22:40

I don't understand why the OP's name isn't under the thread title. Sometimes I can't remember thread titles but a persons name often jogs my ancient memory.

OneSkinnyChip Sat 27-Dec-14 00:07:35

Does it work on the app? I haven't figured out how to do it if so sad

HappyAmbler Sat 27-Dec-14 08:47:27

MNHQ really need to sort out the app - it's pants but it's the main way I use MN. I've been on here over two years and I really thought they would have done something about it by now.

Can't customise AFAIK
Really hard to find where I got to when returning to a long thread
No pics
...

PulpsNotFiction Sat 27-Dec-14 11:23:44

On the mobile site, and the OPs posts are highlighted in a deeper grey. You need to customise it.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 27-Dec-14 20:47:41

Hallo
Thanks so much for flagging this. I'm afraid I can't help much.

Mainly because it's not my department as I live with the DSes and the Peace and Love twins in the sticks MNHQ country outposts.

But what I can do is

1 sympathise as it's annoying.

2 move this thread to site stuff as it's about the site.

3 get one of the 9 to 5 ers to come on and give you a proper update when they're all back after Christmas

HTH

Trills Sat 27-Dec-14 21:03:45

Happy in-betweeny-Christmas Olivia.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 27-Dec-14 21:06:51

Thanks Trills.

I have totally been channelling our cousins across the pond and saying Happy Holidays which is very unlike me but I LIKE THE CHANGE
[insert multidenominational emoticon here]

Trills Sat 27-Dec-14 21:08:37

Happy midwinter thingy!
