People who run this site- if this is some new kind of advertising that brings in nice revenue for you then scrap it! Its crap and makes me want to leave the site!

YYes please ban FashionTV.com urgently and report to GoogleAdNetwork as an autoplay video on mobile which I hope is against their rules.

reported to Contactus@mumsnet so with luck the ad can be blocked soon.

Thanks for reporting. We've alerted our Tech folk and will be back with a proper answer as soon as we can ...

Please bear with us!

Hi Everyone
Thank you very much for flagging this up, we definitely don't want these auto-playing ads running across our site, so I will try to put a block to stop them from appearing. I am pretty sure that I have blocked this Fashiontv ad before, but yet again it has somehow slipped through.

I will get in contact with our network partner in morning to find out what else can be done to prevent further ad violation.

Thanks again and I am really sorry about all this..

I just got one. Made me jump out of my skin. I'm on the normal site (not the mobile app ) on an iPad.

Is it now happening on desktop site? Least that may mean the URL of the ad can be identified.

On mobile, all source code says is DFP, so the ad is being supplied I think from the DoubleClick ad network. Is DoubleClick able to pull the ad from their end? Click to play ads are permitted but Google/Doubleclick do not seem to mention autoplay ads - do they allow those? Can publishers opt out of all autoplay ads?

Thank goodness it's not just me! I'd tried my usual solution - handing phone to teenage daughter with a 'what's the matter with this thing now?' and SHE couldn't sort it so I was stumped. Even googled it with no luck. (I always assume it's my fault so didn't think of asking MNHQ!)

Thanks Nannynick, we'll pass that on

Has anyone seen/heard one today? We're hoping we've got rid now.

Not seen it today so fingers crossed it's sorted.

DoubleClick(Google) does permit AutoPlay Video Ads.
However they have Developer Best Practices and that includes:
Most sites forbid auto-play video with sound.
Auto-play video creatives should include a replay-with-sound/unmute option.
Videos that are click-to-play can play with sound. (The click-to-play action makes the sound click-initiated.)

So the ad is NOT complying with best practice guidelines, as it was playing sound but was not a click-to-play ad.

Not seen the ad today, or last night. So it seems to have gone.
