Exciting announcement - Mumsnet to run NHS maternity wards
(91 Posts)We're thrilled to announce that Mumsnet is going to be leading the NHS trial to outsource maternity wards - see the full announcement here. Over the next few weeks we'll be popping up regularly for feedback on how you'd like maternity wards to operate and to hone our plans. The aim is simple - to make the UK maternity wards the envy of the world. Move over Bounty, it's time for #MNHS!
This is amazing. Ive just been reading the plans and they sound brilliant. Babyliss big hair on every ward - youve really got to the bottom of what women need when they're giving birth. Well done again mnhq.
A "gin bar"? Methinks you are playing with us Justine!
Not sure I like the idea of no quibble no returns caesareans though, how does that fit with nice guidelines? Or are you involved in rewriting those too?
Sign me up - can I apply to work there? Is there a good pension scheme???? Or I will take payment in Gin, not fussy....
'NHS England Spokesperson Angela Hernandez' . I'm Angela Hernandez! <arf>
Such a shame I'm stopping at 2 children.
Makes me almost want to have another baby
Love the Angela Hernandez touch!!
MNHS
Brilliant
You mean there's someone who offers sale-or-return on caesarians? Do you have their number?
If only! You had me there a minute I must admit
Er, really? <Wonders what the date is>

Pregnant women will also be offered a no-quibble, no-returns, caesarian option, with online check-in up to 15 minutes in advance of the operation.
Snigger
What, together with Bounty?
You'll be deleting your own thread come midday me thinks!
I love that you used Angela Hernandez!
I SO wish this were true!
The pelvic floor sessions and mumsnet academy classes are good ideas!!
An who hasn't just given birth and thought, I wish I had my bbh with me, I could jut do with adding volume to my roots!!
I also think you should be offering hour labour slots with online checkin for women who wish to go naturally too, it's only fair, and a great way to bring in extra revenue if women go over their allotted time - you can charge them for every 30 minutes.
(I really hope the government aren't reading this!)
I'm particularly taken by the idea of renaming of delivery suites.
And why stop there? The term midwife sounds so outdated, especially as it assumes that women = wife. So what if it's derived from Middle English. Cearly it's a term that needs bringing in to the 21st century. Any ideas?

^^ That's a round of applause for you MNHQ!
Brilliant!
What about 'baby welcomers'?
