I know we can't have "hide poster" but would you consider "hide all threads started by" as an option?

I find the same people wind me up all the time, and it would be handy to hide all threads started by X (a variety of X's, people who tend to post on certain topics".

And it isn't always because I dislike X or don't want to see them, it's more that some posters start threads on certain topics that I don't want to get drawn into, topics that make me cross and antsy and sometimes upset.

It means I could stay off some people's threads and not even see them (and I'm sure the op's would be grateful for my absence grin).

Failing that, is there any possibility that hidden threads and topics could be hidden in "Most Active" because I keep getting drawn into threads I otherwise wouldn't see that way.

Hidden threads are hidden in most active.

Maryz Sun 30-Mar-14 17:24:03

I don't think they are usual - hidden topics certainly aren't. They are hidden in "Active" but not in "Last 15 minutes" or "Most Active" or DotD

I keep having hidden threads pop up again.

Sorry misread your post.

You are right.

Good idea Maryz. don't think it will happen though.

I am sure I would be on a lot of peoples' lists with my old cobblers about 80s films, James Martin and suchlike. it would work both ways and they won't need to invade my threads. grin

Maryz Sun 30-Mar-14 17:35:47

Well exactly Sparkling.

If someone was really cross by being inveigled into your boring interesting threads about fuckwits celebrities and the like, they could just hide you.

And the many people who find me irritating could stay off my threads, so I could chunter on to myself to pages with no interference at all grin

Win-win Maryz.

MNHQ you need to get Tech on it without delay.

And the many, many people who appear to be so upset by Hully that they have to report her repeatedly and be offended by posts on spoons and Father Christmas could hide her. Then she might start a few more funny threads for those of us who are happy to talk shite to gather on.

What topics would you want to hide Kim?

I have loads hidden I have to admit. Probably more hidden than not in fact.

I try to stick to topics I have experience of at least.

That said sometimes topics you aren't keen on can be quite educational.

RustyBear Sun 30-Mar-14 18:17:47

But you already can hide threads about particular topics, Kim

I would be happy to put key words in so I could avoid certain topics. Failing that, I would like to be able to hide threads started by certain posters who post repetitively about certain topics. Not what the posters post on other topics, but specific threads in a quick and easy way.

And I would like anyone who finds me unbearable to be able to hide threads I start. It works both ways.

At the moment it's impossible to hide everything about any one topic because everyone posts everything in aibu instead of in the right topics.

So it's impossible to hide feeding, or parking or Christmas or sporn or anything without hiding all of chat and aibu, and then I would miss a few interesting threads.

I already have about 9/10ths of the board hidden [sigh]

hobnobsaremyfave Sun 30-Mar-14 19:42:09

I started a thread about this once and had one poster be utterly vile to me on it.((shrugs))
I would love a hide poster function.

hobnobsaremyfave Sun 30-Mar-14 19:43:33

I don't want to hide whole topics just the goady twats.

Maryz Sun 30-Mar-14 19:47:31

I have loads of topics hidden hobnobs. It makes "Active" much easier to use when all the ante/post natal, baby/toddler, local and others are all hidden.

Every so often aibu gets to me, and I hide it, but since there are practically no threads started outside aibu these days it makes it all a bit empty.

HoneyDragon Sun 30-Mar-14 19:49:23

I'd like a hide threads started by X option too. And I NEVER thought I'd be in favour of such a thing.

Maryz Sun 30-Mar-14 19:50:17

Yes Honey, I'll hide him for starters.

Where is your "if it looks like ..." picture? I was trying to find it recently.

HoneyDragon Sun 30-Mar-14 19:52:43

This one?

Maryz Sun 30-Mar-14 19:55:47

Yes, thank you.

I would like to hide all threads posted by him too.

Maryz Sun 30-Mar-14 19:56:37

And I think it would be a good idea, then mnhq wouldn't keep having to send me "we can't see anything wrong here" emails, I just wouldn't see anything and wouldn't report it and they would have much more gin-drinking time.

Win-win all around, I would have thought grin

NoArmaniNoPunani Sun 30-Mar-14 19:58:47

I don't hide anything on MN. Now I'm paranoid that I'm one of the annoying fuckers everyone else wants to hide

HoneyDragon Sun 30-Mar-14 20:33:37

So basically you feel your life on Mnet would be improved by an absence of goats and ducks?

I'm inclined to agree grin
