Site outage

Apologies for the site outage. There was a major power surge problem at the data centre (that's the secure air-conditioned facilities with lots of cabinets and servers and cables and wotsits). Lots of websites and services were affected, not just Mumsnet. We are trying our best to restore normal service.

Thanks for the update, was a tad worried!

Still looks a bit broken to me.
Active convos list isn't loading properly for me, only first 16 convos.
(Ipad, safari, mobile site I think)

Selks active convos will build up again over time after a major site outage like this. Sorry about that.

Ok no worries Smile
It's also like that in 'day' 'hour' '15 mins' sections, just so you know.

Coming from a tech environment in my normal job, I like that the wotsits were gone a bit wobby.

Wobbly I meant. Oops.

I assumed it was so that Mnetters got an early night on Valentines day. Wink

Still some strange stuff on my screen, hard to describe, looks like ( ) DC seems to be written over the top of things. Sorry it that makes no sense, can't think how else to describe it!

I was worried that DH may have blocked it to try to cure my MN addiction.

Wonder if it was weather related. A fair number of power outages and they can cause surges elsewhere. Rotten timing though!!

Morning everyone, how are we all doing? I should imagine some things are a still a bit wonky, but will get back to normal once things have stabilised. If anything looks heinously broken though, do shout/report it.

Wolfiefan · 15/02/2014 09:37

But what do I do if it breaks in future? My default setting is now to "ask MN" if I have a problem. I clearly can't do that if MN is out! Caused a mini panic!
[think I have a bit of an addiction emoticon]
Please don't ever break again MN!!

So the Twitter rumours about Rowan being captured by zombies with a gin-baited trap were untrue then?

Oh and I read OP as "outrage"! I imagined the reaction of MNers up and down the country to being cut off!

I'm glad it's back online, didn't know what to do with myself last night Shock

Moving on from last night - the site is still not back to normal from the strangeness a couple of days ago.

Surely it can't just be me? Did you mean to remove the "overhanging options" that meant that one could click on Active, TIA, or Watching from anywhere?

I'm now having to either press the "back" button or scroll all the way up the page to go to a refreshed Actives. (Sorry I'm not making this clear, I lack the vocabulary, but I hope you see what I mean.) It's making the site very tedious to navigate around.

I spent nearly as long trying to get it to load as I would have done if it had been working!

Yep, it was all a conspiracy to force a population surge in approx. 9 months

Naaah, Pie&Bovril were affected too and no one has sex with those dudes.

I thought there had been a flurry of Valentines activity like at New Year and someone hit the red button to shut up all the Mnetters.
