Mumsnet Local – Do you want to be an Editor for your area?(110 Posts)
January is over so it might be time to poke your nose out and try something new.
Mumsnet Local was revamped last year and we have 180+ local sites across the UK. We aim to have up-to-date info on what's happening where you are, like lots of great ideas for activities to amuse the kids in Half Term. Please do have a look and sign-up to your local site. Where we already have Local Editors, we are now sending out monthly newsletters full of great suggestions of things to do, exclusive local offers for Mumsnetters and lots else besides.
We need your help to make this as good as it can be
Please pop over and upload a listing, review a local service or have a chat to folks in your local area. Or, if you have more time and are looking to make a little money, you could take on a local site as a Mumsnet Local Editor?
We are looking for Editors in:
Blaenau Gwent & Torfaen
Cheltenham & Gloucester
Cheshire (specifically, West Cheshire ? sharing with existing Editor)
Conwy & Denbighshire
Dumfries & Galloway
East Riding of Yorkshire
Isle of Wight
Kingston Upon Hull
Leicestershire (sharing with existing Editor)
London: Barking & Dagenham
Monmouthshire & Newport
Neath Port Talbot & Bridgend
North Ayrshire & Inverclyde
Oldham & Rochdale
Perth & Kinross
South and North Lanarkshire
Stirling & Clackmannanshire
Mumsnet Local Editors manage their Mumsnet Local site, keeping it clean, tidy and up-to-date. They write newsletters and work with local ambassadors (voluntary) to hold meet-ups locally.
Local Editors can make money by contacting businesses local to them and asking them to advertise on their local sites. If you become a Local Editor, you will keep the revenue from the local advertising and offers that you book.
If this sounds of interest to you, then please do send us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org with 'interested in becoming a Local Editor' in the subject field. It helps if you tell us a bit about yourself in the email.
Local is still in its infancy but it's growing all of the time: In the last year we have seen some local editors who have been working hard to build local contacts and communities really starting to see dividends, with several seeing monthly earnings topping £1,000. It is slow and steady but the potential is great for the right people.
We very much look forward to hearing from you if you are interested or have any questions.
Happy New Year
PS, we are still processing emails from the last recruitment thread, as we've been spring cleaning our set-up process, so don't worry, you will hear from us in the next few days.
Hi, I've just spotted that there is a dearth of happenings in East Renfrewshire.
I'm not 100% on what I'd have to do and I don't have massive amounts of spare time, but I figure if I tell Dp in actually doing something for MN it'll justify me spending as much time here
Can you give me the skinny on what's required and I'll have a bash at it?
Hi, are you looking for an editor in the Selby area? I have emailed regarding arranging meetups and being an LA.
Hi - do you need anyone for Herts, or any extra help for that area, I'm West Herts! Thanks.
I would be really interested in becoming local editor for Warrington. There is so much going on around here that isn't on your site. I sent you a PM a few weeks ago. Are you still looking for someone in my area? Thanks Kerry
I'd be interested in rotherham, my only concern would be that I am a Carer for my mil and am claiming carers allowance so I can only officially work a few hours a week. Would it be likely to affect that at all? I have spare time and ds starts nursery soon.
Hi I sent an email as I am interested in local editor for the Scottish borders I have good link within the community and would love to share everything with locals .
you dont get paid guys
you get a list of stuff to do....
MN, you should be paying for this work instead of scrounging
Hello, I noticed the post up thread about Brussels. Would you be interested in having local sections for any other areas in Europe where there is likely to be a concentration of English speakers? For example where there are lots of international organisations ?
An Australian page and editor would be great. There's quite a few of us on Mumsnet. It would be useful too for 'Nightwatch' purposes.
