<<whispers>> Was there ever any clarification about whether the issue with GF was swearing on here?

MN Towers, if you'd prefer it if this was deleted, please do so.

But I'm nosy. And I want to know. Please?

(I didn't swear in this, though I was tempted to...childish or what?!)

And me. Though I don't care. I am a parent. I don't swear at our kids. But I am only human and MN is my escape from RL :)

roight then...
from the threads that i read on the matter, archived ones included:

I think GF was posting as ginababe a couple of years ago and was enjoying contributing to threads and topics, and even had the odd pop at her RL self to play along with it and was quite good-humoured about the way she was perceived by parents and accepted that her way wasn't everyone's 'bag'. At this stage I don't think it was widely known at all that ginababe was GF herself...

Then there was a rather nasty thread wherein there was above and beyond the usual Gina-bating, which culminated in a few verrrry nasty comments made by a poster called evita (i think) which was aimed at GF's family/upbringing rather than her childcare methods. GF in the shape of ginababe went ballistic at this and did some rather nasty name-calling herself as she was soooo upset and appalled at the comments. It all went a bit mental and the threads were pulled. i think GF then decided that it had all gone way too far and didn't want anymore to do with mumsnet.

However, being a human, and all, i thinks she couldn't resist coming back and lurking occasionally and didn't like what was being written by some posters. i think she felt so bitter and so very upset by the whole thing that she has developed a real hatred for mumsnet and some of the posters. You could say she should be above it, but she is only human i spose and it's probably happened to a number of posters over the years but not all of them were well-known childcare 'gurus'.

with the publication of her latest book she's been lurking again, has seen yet more negaitive stuff about her and now that she has the power and the ability she has decided to put the wind up mumsnet as an organisation by threatening the legal stuff. and as she feels so much hatred for mumsnet now she picked on the swearing rather than the childcare issues. which does look very silly and petty, but again is maybe just an elevated version of someone lashing out at others who have treated themn badly (in their eyes).

that's my take on it anyway! i'm no gina fan or follower but i must say i did feel a bit sorry for her when i looked at the archived stuff and realised that she was human too.

waddayathink?

Hurrah :) Spot on, I reckon. I said as much in a thread a week or two ago, but not as coherently. I am absolutely certain about the theory about being attached to MN, and then the backfiring. I think it makes it all much more understandable.

Moomin, as my rather refined Indian mother would say, 'darling, you are clever'.

I think evita was quite normal, just got a bit carried away and was then very apologetic.
