MNHQ have commented on this thread

Site stuff

So I did what I'm supposed to do and I reported. And now the thread has a deletion message on it.

And the thread deleted message says deleted to protect the privacy of the poster.

Could someone tell me what sort of privacy issues there would have to be on the part of the OP of that thread? It was the take a break one.

I'm feeling a bit meh about reporting in general and this has made me feel even less inclined to report.

Many thanks.

I didn't read the thread in question, but if a thread was deleted to protect someone's privacy, I seriously doubt MNHQ are going to discuss it on another thread.

But that's the point Loopa.

The thread was "do you read take a break, isn't netmum's crap this woman who had something for sale got sexually assaulted by a man who came to pick it up and i had a right good chuckle who'll want to go on netmums now"

So I can't see why, other than hiding the fact that they are an insensitive twat, it would be deleted to protect a poster's privacy.

Hence me asking the question.

There may have been identifying stuff in the thread you didn't see?

StealthPolarBear · 29/03/2013 15:16

Did you want the thread deleted though?

The op was exactly what I posted. Yes I wanted it deleted. But I can't understand what the personal info was

Hi all,

And Blush you're right - it is an auto response that needs to be edited. It was deleted because it was in poor taste and the OP asked for it to go when she realised this.

We pressed the auto response for 'OP requested deletion' rather than editing, which I will try and do now if there wasn't a tech issue with it

Apologies, fat fingers/human error

But the "problem" still remains that OPs can just sabotage "their" thread by deliberately putting information which appears to identify them and then cry wolf.

Works every time.
