Where is last week's Talk Round-up, please?

(11 Posts)

I got an email from HQ with last week's round up (and I am in it [proud]), but can't find it on the site - the one from the previous week, with the invisible duck, is still up. Are the gremlins in again?

Perhaps it's to do with the new format, SDTG? Zombie's talking out her arse as usual...

No, no, no, Zombie - you are wise as always.

And to be honest, I want this week's round up on the site so everyone can enjoy my wit. blush

That sounds like an excellent reason to Zombie! grin

thanks Zombie! See, I knew you were Wise!

Zombie is correct (as is often the case wink) - our new Newsletter software has caused a few knock-on... challenges (I think that's the correct euphemism).

Sorry for the inconvenience - we will try to get it all back up and running as normal ASAP.

Thank you Rowan. thanks

Yes, dammit - my Oscar Nomination thread (one of the few threads that I have started to get more than two replies) was in there.

I have had a tiny taste of the bright lights of fame and I liked it.

This week's Talk Round-up.

“Help - the baby has pooed down a floorboard crack!” wailed NellyBluth. “DD has spent most of the day without a nappy on. I was very smug about the fact we have wooden floors so it was all fine. Ha ha ha on me. She managed to find the one crack in the floorboards to stand over... I've tried to get something down the crack to get all the poo out, but it's just not working that well. What can I squirt down there to help? I don't really want to do neat bleach! Any tips? Or am I the only person who has ever let their baby poo down a floorboard crack?!”

No, Nelly, you are not.

Rubyroo: “DS did this during an unsuccessful potty training attempt. DH ran a cotton bud with bleach on it down there several times, then sprayed it with Dettox anti-bacterial cleaner and ran a dry cotton bud along it till it was gone. Then we both vomited.”

“My DS has done this too,” confessed BreastmilkNewYearLatte. “And it wasn't even my own floorboard crack.”

Pettyprudence was, it turned out, merely an onlooker. “No help for the floorboards,” she chirruped, apart from “a Glade plug-in and the passing of time?” There are few things in life that wouldn’t benefit from both...

“So, HQ, where do you see yourself in one year / five years / ten years time?” asked ChaosTrulyReigns this week. “Diversifying? I can see the day when MN products hit the shelves. What about a radio station or magazine? MN schools? MN distillery? ‘Gin. The drink of vipers.’”

“I like the distillery idea,” grinned a certain JustineMumsnet, ever-alert to the twin attractions of revenue and alcohol, and not even necessarily in that order. “Keep 'em coming...”

“A lingerie range, surely - beginning with the judgy pants!” thought SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius, while Kyrptonite muttered something about, "An iPhone app that doesn't make me want to throw my phone at the wall.” Tech... TECH!

Poledra was thinking branded baked goods: “MN buns - for fighting." And aufaniae reckoned HQ should produce: "A Which! style magazine. I can see them doing that quite easily. I read an interview with Justine where she said that her original idea for Mumsnet was a Which-style thing. It evolved naturally to be a nest of vipers a much broader online community instead, which she seemed pleased about. Justine, did I remember that right?

To which the voice from on high replied: "Well, yes that sounds like it could have been me..."

More MN brand ideas?

Awards season is upon us, so TalcAndTurnips has pulled on a ballgown and awaits the announcement of the nominations for Classic MN Flick Of All Time.

“Those in the running:
Inglourious Leave The Basterds
Naice Hamlet (starring Kenneth 'Luvvie' Branagh)
American Style & Beauty
Hun Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

And a couple of nominations from 20th Century LaQueen Pictures:
The Farrow & Cannon Ball Run
Waitrose for Godot.”

Long list, that, we were This Close to playing the STFU music but... <APPLAUSE> Any more for any more?

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss is backing “Bridge over the River of Sweetcorn and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Butter”, while SanityClause is hoping that “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” will scoop a prize. The nominations started rolling in almost immediately, although why “Debbie Does Centre Parcs” should have popped into ThinkAboutItOnBoxingDay’s fevered brain is anyone’s guess.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch proposed “Despicable MIL”, while BIWI was keen on both “The Gifted and Talented Mr Ripley,” and “They Fruit Shoot Horses, Don't They?”

“You Only Troll Twice,” warned TheDoctrineOfSnatch.
