You may remember we recently joined up with What Car? to bring you Mumsnet Cars, a great place to go for Mumsnetter reviews and expert advice (if we do say so ourselves).

We're sure you've all had a good nosey round the new site, but if you haven't, why not head over now to read the reviews that have been written about your car. Is there anything that has been missed so far that you think others should know? Is there anything in the current review you don't agree with? Or a feature you want to shout about? If so, please add your own review to give other Mumsnetters valuable information about your experiences.

If there isn't a review on your car already why not add one to help other Mumsnetters who are looking for a family car? Here's the link: www.mumsnet.com/cars/reviews

Also, do come back to this thread and let us know you've added your review.

Also do tell us about your ideal family car. If you could have any feature possible, what would it be? What's the one thing family cars are missing? What is the deciding factor when you buy a car?

As a token of our eternal and grateful thanks we persuaded the lovely team behind Nativity 2 - Danger in the Manger (released November 23 - staring David Tennant and Joanna Page - check out the trailer here: to donate a really cool prize. Everyone who adds a comment to this thread (including those who say they have added a review) has a chance to win a half day rafting trip for 6 people (worth £320) in Snowdonia - see here for more info.
If you don't live near here or aren't planning on visiting Wales any time soon, the winner will be able to transfer the prize to a friend or relation. Please note the minimum age for the trip is 12 years old and the trip must be taken before 12/11/2013. Please click here for full Ts&Cs.

Don't forget to add your car review Smile

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

Is there any point in adding a review for a ropey 13yr old focus?

Report

Pascha - I've just added a review for my Focus which we've had for years and which has now done 120,000 miles! Smile.

I think the main feature of my idea family car is simply reliability and cost-effectiveness - I don't want to have to spend £££ every time it goes in for its MOT and I certainly don't want it breaking down on the M25 with two children in the back. So far, the Ford Focus is doing very well on both those counts!

The main consideration when buying a family car is cost, followed by running costs (petrol gallons per mile, tax etc). Then reliability. Then space in the boot. Then comfort. Then environmental credentials. Then finally, look and style!

Just checked prettybird's Mazda 6 review as being useful - or i did when all the links and icons eventually loaded.

Is there a reason why the picture for the car is an almost 2MB absolutely massive picture scaled down for display purposes? I had to wait a couple of minutes for everything to load on my superskinny excuse for broadband.

And please. No rafting holidays. My idea of hell.

Actually - I was just thinking I needed to go back and add some stuff to my reivew. Hadn't even though about things like running costs. Servicing costs are minimal and petrol consumption is (relatively) good.

My car is nearly 10 years old but still going strong. As far as I can make out from Which? although the car has been updated slightly since I got it, it has not fundamentally changed. Hence why I would have another one like a shot.

(by the way, why don't we have a 'flutters eyelashes beguilingly while tilting head with a winning smile' emoticon?)

Mine isn't there - not sure many other people would be interested in a review of a 40+ year old Morris Traveller as a family vehicle though Grin

Liking the idea of a crafting holiday Grin

Our fab Focus is no more following an incident with a white van Sad so I've just been having a browse of the reviews, looking at options for a replacement.

It's great to see reviews of cars from other parents Smile

Can I ask a couple of quick questions please MNHQ?

On the app, are the MN reviews and What Car reviews supposed to be the same?

Would it be possible to get some sort of whizzy function whereby it displays the rear legroom in each car (important when pondering whether an ERF carseat will fit http://www.rearfacing.co.uk/facts.php info here

Finally, i looked at the Toyota Avensis review and couldn't see anything mentioned there about the recent recalls?

Thanks

The only review for the Toyota Rav 4 is mine but somebody liked it! Grin That's a pathetically grateful face!

I have since then had a letter about a recall as blondie mentioned but am waiting to hear from the garage.

I like my C Max and agree with the MN review. I'm sure there are higher tech small MPV's on the market, but for a five person family it is safe, reliable and importantly affordable. Not the sexiest car on the market by a long shot, but I am very happy with it.

Our ideal family car needs to be comfortable for long journeys (air con essential), stylish and fun to drive. I guess safety must be high on the list as well. Both our cars already have reviews, which I have read and agree with.
