This is a really, really big deal, both for Scotland and the rest of the UK.

I was wondering if MNHQ could consider creating a section/topic for it similar to the way conception has an info section and a topic.

The info section could have links to sites for further info, and Faqs with neutral answers.

Maybe get some people involved on for web chats and link to those too?

This is going to be an immensely significant event and it'd be great if mumsnet could provide a place for people to get more info.

You've probably noticed lots of threads popping up on the issue, and its bound to pick up momentum.

I feel this is a real opportunity for mumsnet to provide an invaluable and neutral resource for those many mumsnetters who have an interest /have questions.

Thanks for listening :-)

Hi there,

Thanks for this - we will put it to the team after the weekend and come back to you.

Oooooh - good idea ItsAll - I really need some more information about it and there is nothing like a good bunfight debate to get people thinking....

Oh God "ItsAll" are you sure?

You'll just have all the bigots wading in with their shite about the massive drain on the economy due to all "their" taxes paying for all our benefits, and repeat ad nauseum. About as much chance of a reasoned debate on Scottish independence on here as there is in the Daily Wail (which seems to be where most posters source their bile misinformation.

When we're independent, we could set up our own site and call it mawsnet. Wink

I sincerely hope 'Eck's plans will be foiled. But it still winds me up. Grin

Surely we don't have to be independent to have a Mawsnet??? Braw idea!

In the light of recent events/threads I am going to bump this thread.

I still think it would be a great idea for MNHQ to do this (and they never got back to me at all, never mind "after the weekend") :)

Hello. And sorry. ("After the weekend" in MNHQ-speak doesn't necessarily mean Monday; it means whenever we can get enough of us together to mull.)

Anyhoo, we totally get that it's a really really big deal

We could give you your own Scottish Independence Talk topic if you really really want it but we kinda thought that might be ghetto-ising you a bit.

Better, surely, to engage more widely in our Politics topic? It's an issue that will affect Sassenachs too (whether they care to admit it or not!).

Good idea re webchats: I'm sure we already have some ideas on that one. We'll find out and make sure you know all about it when they're fixed up. Suspect our webchat guests will want to do the chat a bit nearer the vote in 2014 - but we'll see...

I agree about not having a separate chat topic.

Some Web chats would be great. But what would be really, really great would be if there could be a separate section with links to the different campaigns and links to all the decent information. At the moment it can be quite hard to find decent info, and mumsnet is a very trusted source if you felt able to do an independent mn taken on the various issues.

OK. We'll ask the team who edit those info pages and see what they've got planned.
