sometimes i don't wish to comment but want to acknowledge that i like a mumsnetter's post or response. i keep going to click the like button, as on facebook but inevitably find that it is not there!!

Please noooooo! We are not the Daily Mail!

Pancakeflipper Mon 10-Oct-11 12:34:11

No - we will have flouncers if their thread is not liked.

nightshade Mon 10-Oct-11 12:39:42

what's a ticker??

JeremyVile Mon 10-Oct-11 12:50:39

Looking at it scientifically...

Mumsnet is pretty bloody fab.

Facebook is a bunch of arse.

In conclusion, Mumsnet has NOTHING to learn from Facebook.

GetOrfMo1Land Mon 10-Oct-11 12:52:52

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Please don't do this. It would reduce debate to that of the twats on the Daily Mail. And 'I am going to make some cheese on toast' status updates with 34 likes on facebook (i.e. moronic)

FeelMyWraith Mon 10-Oct-11 12:54:24

I see all the NOOOOOOOOOOs and raise you a HELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Just like it. You know, in your head.

JeremyVile Mon 10-Oct-11 12:55:28

Or just put 'I agree with JeremyVile' [wunk]

mistressploppy Mon 10-Oct-11 12:55:52

Not necessary. Agree with FeelMyWraith. In fact - 'like'

grin

headfairy Mon 10-Oct-11 12:57:29

Just post "like" after a comment if you like it. No need to start apeing less successful websites wink

I see your HELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and raise you a NO CUNTING WAY.

Use your sodding fingers and T Y P E.

Or just grin

wannaBe Mon 10-Oct-11 13:00:41

dislike. wink

We are considering this as a customisable (not default) option as you are nno means the first to ask, but clearly there are a lot of people who'd rather we didn't. So we thought that we could trial it as an option for those that want, but it wouldn't show for those that didn't. When we'll get round to that though is quite another matter...

NB, BEFORE ANYONE GOES TONTO, WE ARE NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CONSIDERING TICKERS, CUSTOMISABLE OR OTHERWISE.

JustineMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 10-Oct-11 13:02:56

[Hides thread]

noddyholder Mon 10-Oct-11 13:03:16

FeelMyWraith Mon 10-Oct-11 13:03:38

<declares with WHAT THE ACTUAL BOLLOCKS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO>

JFTI, where T = type or think

savoycabbage Mon 10-Oct-11 13:04:28

Dislike.

FeelMyWraith Mon 10-Oct-11 13:05:12

If you introduce this as a customisable option, I want the option to not allow anybody to like anything I've ever said. Because I won't have sycophantic nobbers pawing at my posts with ignorant fervour.

MyNameIsLola Mon 10-Oct-11 13:07:24

Ugh, no. I come here to talk to people!

can we pwease have sum tickas?

MyMelody Mon 10-Oct-11 13:08:27

another 'hell nooooo' here too!

MyMelody Mon 10-Oct-11 13:09:52

really what would be the point, when i am sat around having a conversation with people they don't all give me a thumbs down if i say something they don't quite agree with, would be really off-putting

GetOrfMo1Land Mon 10-Oct-11 13:10:05

NO justine don't do it as a customisable option! Please. Thin end of the wedge. This is how wars start.

nightshade Mon 10-Oct-11 13:11:41

sorry for being moronic, a cunting twat or anything else!!

sometimes i would just like to acknowledge my 'like' of someone's comment, where they can see it, without having to type in a witty and inspiring retort, which will appear half way down the page and out of synch with the current debate.

thank you mumsnet for your considered response!
