said to restart pc so it could deal with it, so I did that.
Came back onto MN again and same thing again:
Am creating this post so I can report my own post and let HQ know that way.
Havent had any other websites open, so has to be MN - didn't they have this problem the other week, or something similar?

Anyone else?

Hello. Thanks for alerting us to this.

Any chance you remember what ads were displaying when you logged on?

Conflugenglugen Sat 01-Oct-11 10:31:44

Yes, just happened to me too. Right now. From the Active Conversations page.

HelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 01-Oct-11 10:35:13

Did you see any ads on that page, Conflugenglugen?

whatstream Sat 01-Oct-11 10:36:13

Hi there, it was Here Comes the Highway Rat when I first came onto MN.

IShallWearMidnight Sat 01-Oct-11 10:36:32

I had this, and it was something to do with java (I came straight to active convos, but can't remember what ads there were, sorry).

CointreauVersial Sat 01-Oct-11 10:37:31

Yes! I've just had "Malicious Toolkit" blocked by Norton. Hmmm.....fishy......

whatstream Sat 01-Oct-11 10:38:26

another box popped up since then, saying Adobe Acrobat not working properly or somthing????
Has triggered my pc to start scanning now.

Conflugenglugen Sat 01-Oct-11 10:40:41

there were ads, but i'm not sure which ones ... hang on ... will click on back to see if there's anything there, because it'll probably be from my cache ...

HelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 01-Oct-11 10:41:07

Thanks - this is all v helpful.

Any info you can give us about what you're seeing - and what ads are displaying - will help us hugely in trying to sort this out.

Conflugenglugen Sat 01-Oct-11 10:43:06

Okay - a TalkTalk banner at the top; Miller Homes; Great Little Trading Company. That's everything. I had kept my Active Conversations page open, so these are the original ads.

ditavonteesed Sat 01-Oct-11 10:43:53

whatstream Sat 01-Oct-11 10:44:21

whojamaflip Sat 01-Oct-11 10:45:04

Hi just had this as well - did a full computer scan and there were 3 Trojans detected - can't remember what the ads were but I was in Active convos at the time. (using explorer and AVG) Cheers

bluelaguna Sat 01-Oct-11 10:45:12

I had a virus alert perhaps 10-15 mins (ish?) ago as well - only thing open was MN, but sorry no clue re ads.

Conflugenglugen Sat 01-Oct-11 10:46:47

Thanks all.

OK, we've disabled some ads and are investigating further.

Do please let us know if you get any further warnings like this.

Pinot Sat 01-Oct-11 11:02:09

I had this too - my virus scanner had about 8 or 9 warnings. Sorry I didn't think to check the ads bu I'll know for future reference.

ChippingIn Sat 01-Oct-11 11:04:19

I have had Nortons finding trojans as well. I think it was MN as I've never had any problems with the other sites I had open, but of course I can't be sure. I had already moved on by the time the alert came through so I don't which ads were there - sorry!

No need to apologise Pinot! But yes, this is usually an ad thang, so def worth noting for next time <hopes there really isn't a next time>

Pinot Sat 01-Oct-11 11:28:46

I'm in a box <preens>

gorionine Sat 01-Oct-11 11:36:57

I have Avast anti-virus and it detects something wrong too, i have not clicked on any ads, just threads inactive convos.

gorionine Sat 01-Oct-11 11:37:33

in active convos not inactive convos!

ShowOfHands Sat 01-Oct-11 11:41:08

Avast is saying it on every page, active, threads I'm on, single threads, regardless of the ad. It says the threat is MN itself whereas when it did it before (couple of weeks ago) it listed the ad as a threat. Innocent smoothies, vodafone, something to do with hotpants are the first three ads I noticed but Avast says it's a malware from MN.

crazynanna Sat 01-Oct-11 11:46:06

This is about the 3rd thread on this.
