MNHQ - when posters give real names and addresses to enter competitions do you ever pass or sell them on to other companies?

Right. Do you know if there is anywhere I can read that it says they will do this?

That had something to do with a contest those posters had entered, though. I don't know that they give or sell our details except in cases of contests.

It is Mumsnet's policy not to make our mailing list available to any other parties and we would only pass on your email address if we received specific permission to do so from you, or if we are asked for information by the police, in line with the Data Protection Act.

The only mails you will receive from us are a single registration confirmation, our weekly parenting news round-ups, which give a brief summary of newsworthy items that you may have missed plus some suggestions for weekend places to visit, plus our individually-tailored developmental emails charting your child's progress (roughly every 3-6 months). We also very occasionally may contact you with an important piece of news about the site or a mail with topical tips based on members contributions to the site but we recognise that you don't want your mailbox clogged up and we keep contact to a minimum.

nojustificationneeded is correct, this happened about about a month ago, here's the thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/1239292-Naturespath-comp.

Hopefully MNHQ have slapped the appropriate wrists.
