Hi all,
We've launched Gransnet today. It mimics the Mumsnet format but is for Grandparents, so they can chat about and pool ideas on their grandchildren, hobbies, relationships and anything else they fancy. If you know any Grans please do point them to Gransnet.com. NB any Grans on MN who'd rather hang out here are most welcome to do so and under no obligation to go to Gransnet but if you fancy taking a look, please feel free. (You could always do both Smile)
Any feedback is very welcome here. Txs

I have joined in solidarity. I'm hoping that at 19 and 16 my DC don't make me a gran quite yet.

Good luck!

Cant you set it so it automatically recognises mnetters?!
Great idea tho, if my mum had internet access.

Great idea but hope we don't lose all the old gimmers grand and wise posters to it Grin

Have emailed it to my mum. I hope she doesn't end up on here though, good idea to have a separate space for them!

It looks great, much better than Mumsnet

ok, so i've registered over there; now there's twice as much time-frittering to be had

Justine, have you transfered some threads or made some up to start off??! There are some dated 2008 over there and a couple that say 'are grans allowed to post on here' etc. Not that it matters, I just dont want it all to trn out to be another katemiddletongate style wind up and embarrass myself Grin . And I want to know if I'm in the top 250 to get a book Wink

Yes, sorry, for confusion - those threads were just put up for testing purposes. We'll get rid of them asap.

If I tell my mother then it is only a small hop to her thinking "I'll just go check out MN too." Not happening!

We could put an auto-block on visitors to MN from GN Grin...

MM1557, my mum doesn't babysit, she has DD1 to stay when she wants to see her Grin

I'm going to post here but to be honest I'm not a grandmother and can't be bothered with all this age difference malarky.

Report
Indith · 05/05/2011 12:52

If you can guarantee she won't see me then I'll tell her Justine Grin

I post about everything under this name and she knows it as I use it for other things online too. I can't name change, I tried to change once for a sex thread and had a UCM moment, I'm technically inept.

Many years ago my mum told me about a thing called Mumsnet. It was nice for me to be able to tell her, today, about Gransnet. She'll be taking a look.

Good luck with it! Smile

I've just joined too, and now realise I will never get anything done.

Great, enjoy - it's full of empty green fields just waiting for population. Reminds me of ye olden days on here.

I'm trying, Justine! (It's really weird to see your own posting name showing in nearly all Active convos)

I'm confused. There are many, many people differently aged to me. Does that mean I should send across anyone not aged 36 to gransnet?
Confused

How exciting (I think). I've joined because I'm a nosy bugger, but as I'm not a gran I suppose I'll just be ignored.....
