why does my back button sometimes not work?

sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. v irritating.

I've started a thread already.

It's only some threads. It's something to do with an advert. If you click in the drop down box next to the back button, it'll say something like

HTTP Not Found
www.mumsnet.com/doubleclick/DART

It's like a black hole.

They're aware of it. Not sure if they're fixing it.

and not that it matters but it is a tad annoying and i'm glad it's not just me.

And then a little arrow pointing down next to the forward button. That drop down box.

Started a thread a week ago.

For clicking back/forward several pages without having to click on the back/forward button multiple times.

So say you follow a link to something and then you click through a few pages on a website, nosey about a bit and then want to go back to the original page you were on, you'd have to click back several times. But with the drop down box you can go straight to where you want.

It also means you can get out of the MN black hole.

It was google/mumsnet putting a cookie onto your machine when you went to a particular topic saying you were interested in the topic so that google can target ads at you in the future. Pressing back goes to the 'page' that put the cookie on.

You can opt out if you like, but you'd miss out on those pampers ads you mysteriously get after you have been browsing those 'baby's names' threads!

There's no way of knowing if it's ok now really as it happens so randomly.

As I said on the thread I started over a week ago , I'm on IE7.

It's still doing it btw. The last two times it happened I made a note of the advert on the thread (as somebody said it could be advert related) and both times it was Fisher Price. Might be a coincidence though.

I then sometimes get a "mumsnet is offline, please try again in 30 seconds" message.

It's driving me nuts.

It means that it takes an age to navigate around the site.

Just happened with just a Fisher Price ad on the page and hovering over the ad it give the link as doubleclick something or other. Think that is the culprit.

Seems pretty conclusiver to me that it is the Fisher Price advert that's causing it for me.

So, Tech, what can I do about it? It's unbelievably annoying and really starting to put me off using mumsnet at the moment.
