Seriously now, can we have a new emoticon?

Seeing as how we have all been asking for years for various new emoticons and have just been fobbed off.

There have been requests for (and check out my dedication to the cause) wine glasses, a frown , another frown, a vomit, a yawn (and my personal favourite) a shrug, and a twat and nothing.

I mean, you gave us our biscuit after all the media hysteria on biscuitgate so I assumed we were going to have to need a very good reason, but the confused face just appeared, and the bear? Well that was just from one thread that wasnt even funny.

One Fricking Thread? And there is a whole new emoticon? How is that fair?

So I am hereby officially requesting a [yawn] or [shrug] for when someone is being incredibly dull, (and I am sure someone will be along to add a request for a [twat] although I can see that that might be construed as a personal insult...)

So any chance you could actually answer us instead of ignoring us on the AIBU thread would be great

I thought that Biscuit was to be used in those situations?

Personally I would like a catsbumface emoticon.

I think we need a one in, one out policy.

So you can have a shrug, but Hmm must go.

I want rid of the bloody bear and a gingerbread man instead.

Nono, Biscuit is for no comment.

There isn't one for 'christ, that's dull'

I love Hmm, it's so passive aggressive!

No. You can't.

They won't give me [boggle] so none of you can have anything else.

I think they should have given me [boggle] before even considering the bloody bear.

I just can't believe we've still got that bear. Silly me, I'd really thought it was Pudsey and posters who thought it was from the dinner party thread were mistaken.
The OP's DH's "Pom Bear anyone"? quote was very funny. But it was one line from a poster's OH. There have been funnier threads.

I have to say the bear is brilliant.

I loathe the biscuit, it's just so demoralising. and the hmm is horrid to be in receipt of. Maybe they could ditch those two - it would leave room for a couple more!

Oh and the confused one makes me feel ill. It's just wrong.

Yes, yes, Hecate, let's ditch the confused and have a boggle! Boggles are useful. Confused ones make me want to shout 'Oh just google it!'

The hmm is far, far into borrowed time.

[boggle] woudl work, I like that.

My point is that there are numerous emoticons we have wanted for ages and ages, and with much better reasons than the fricking bear. And MNHQ haven't come onto explain anywhere why they chose that as opposed to something else.

If it had been children in need, fair enough, but it isn't.

They won't. I've asked loads a couple of times and they just ignore me Grin

Although I can't be too cross - they gave me Hecate back for after Christmas (I lost it in the Grand Tantrum Dereg Of 2009)

I don't think the Hmm one is ever used in the sceptical sense very often.

The Bear one I am not even sure what it stands for.

It stands for "you're a total nutjob."

Can't really see why MNHQ would want to put on emoticons like twat and yawn that would just be used to upset people - they wouldn't only be used against known trolls or BNP-types who deserve it.

How would the [twat] look? I need to se it before I can vote.

I love Hmm it is the best emoticon on the Internet.

I agree with PuppyMonkey. I love Hmm but don't use it very often.

I also like Confused

YOu can't have an emoticon unless there is a really long thread a quiche it seems.

I love Hmm, don't like Confused but I suppose it has a place. Bear and Biscuit are pointless gimmicks. Get rid of those and replace with the next trend. Once a year have a vote to change or keep new ones. Then we could have all of the suggestions if they are popular enough.

I second the motion for a [catsbummouth] emoticon. Or maybe a [judgeypants].

Bear and Biscuit can go.

Confused and Hmm have to stay!!

What we NEED is an EYE ROLLING emoticon!!!

and I agree about the Bear, it was an amusing thread, but not hilarious and doesn't merit its own emoticon. The bear is far too netmums anyway.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 06/12/2010 10:50

An eye-rolling emoticon would be good, though I think that Hmm is pretty close - but we definitely need the [cat's bum mouth] emoticon.
