alternative to hiding single posters.

would it be possible to hide threads started by inidividual posters? We're not talking missing random posts so the thread doesnt make sense. we are just talking of a way to hide the threads started by a specific poster.

It would be a compromise to the not hiding a single poster thing that you seem so reluctant to do. And it would also be easier to implement.

I am sure others have a view on this so i will invite them to add comment too.

But if you see the thread started by the evi poster on active convos you can just go in and hide it yourself? You never know they might say something interesting - seems a bit 'off' to want to hide all threads without so much as seeing them

Surely you can just not read stuff by someone who bugs you? or does the two clicks you've wasted to get there bug you too?

i have issues with the hide button as it often fails to hide the requested thread.

Tbh I think if you're that bugged by a poster you need to get away from mnet for a bit.....

oh now northern there are lots of posters that bug me. sometimes it is nice to have a hide functions that works and soemtimes it is nice to see the other threads.

Not sure why i am attracting all the venom as i am not the first person that has raised the issue of hiding single posters recently. It has been mentioned a couple of times and the answer from HQ was if you started hiding posts only from a specific poster then threads wouldnt make sense.

Now if you could fix my hide button i would got break it again hitting it a lot and finding the thread that i am looking for.

Oh crumbs - have just tried it and it does work! It didn't the last time I tried it - I had to change my interval on threads I'm on to one day to avoid being annoyed!

My hide button always works. Perhaps the fact that your's doesn't is really what you should be asking MNHQ about.

In fact I'm not sure I understand what you are asking for instead.

Ouch, I think it is an excellent idea and we talked about it on another thread a few weeks ago.

MNHQ didn't comment on that particular idea so perhaps they will now you've started this.

...and my hide button does work...it's just a hassle having to hide every thread someone starts. Especially if you have already clicked on it not knowing it's one of theirs.

It would make life easier, that's all.

I am full of nosiness and am wondering who anyone would want to hide. Can't be me - I've only ever started one thread and that was yonks ago.

How about in Active Convos (or in topic lists) each thread should say not just who the most recent poster was but also who the OP was.

So, for example, I might be more interested in Reality's SIL than anyone else's SIL, but at the moment I can only see that a thread is about somoene's SIL

Yes but then you would still have to see the thread titles before you hid them.

I dunno - yes in the scheme of things it is pointless and pandering but OTOH people got worked up about being able to hide topics, and that's all been done so why not this, as well.

I do really think it would lessen the warfare on here...people who hate each other just wouldn't SEE each other.
